Partial Savannah View?

We stayed at AKL Kidani Village this past October and had a fantastic 2 Bedroom. We rented points for a 2 bedroom standard view and when we got there they said they upgraded us to a Partial Savannah view. We were in a little area kind of between the Pembe Savannah and the Sunset Savannah, there was about 50 feet span of savannah. It was a great room. My question is if I were to want to stay in that room again is that considered a Savannah view or a Standard View? Thank you so much.

Im wondering...did they charge you the DVC points for standard view or savannah view?

I rented points and I used the amount for a Standard View.....

Then you got a little bit better standard view. Not an upgrade, just a better view in your category.

At Kidani Village the categories are either standard or savanna. No partial savanna. And if I reserved a savanna view and got a partial view, I would be upset.

They recently reclassified some of the rooms at AKV. Some rooms that had a partial savanna view were changed from Savanna View to Standard View. It sounds like you got one of those reclassified rooms. It used to be that Standard View rooms at Kidani had a view of the roadways, parking areas or pool. Now they could also have a partial/obstructed view of the Pembe Savanna. In Jambo House, originally the Standard View rooms all faced the pool area but now a Jambo House Standard View room might have a partial/obstructed savanna view.

If you want a room like that again, you can book Standard View and request an obstructed savanna view but it's just a request. At Kidani, you could get the roadway/parking area view instead, in fact that's the most likely view since there are so many more of those rooms than there are of the obstructed savanna view rooms but it's worth asking.

I was just able to book a Kidani Standard view studio for a few days before easter today. Earlier in the week I called several times and there was absolutely no availability at any DVC resort. I was also on a couple of waitlists, but neither have come through so far. So I was ready to book a Disney collection room, pay the $95, and a large amount of points just to get a room on property - this trip just came up a few weeks back.

Surprisingly, there was a room at Kidani - I was expecting that if anything popped open it would be the usual SSR (which I enjoy when I can't get my home at BW.)

So with no research done, I've been wondering what a standard view would be. Maybe I'll pop myself on the seven day list for savannah view!

I also was able to book lunch at Le Cellier - a late 2:20 time slot - but I still got in. It's been my lucky DVC day.

So I figured I'd also go do GAD - I'd checked the site in January but nothing worked for us. Today they had a 'clean up the river' thing for April after my trip and needed 79 volunteers just a few miles from me, so I signed us up for that - the tickets will come in handy for Food and Wine in October.
