We have less than 2 weeks until our arrival and there is a possibility that one of our party of 3 may have to cancel due to a medical problem. This came up suddenly and I was wondering if anyone knows if we can get a refund for just one person in our party. Years ago we were able to move our complete reservation to a later date do to a death but not sure if anything can be done if just one cannot make it. We don't have trip insurance. We have 5 day one park tickets and QS dining plan. If there is no possibility of a refund can the tickets at least be used at a later date?

If you have a package booked, you may be able to cancel off 1 person for a fee (maybe $50?). That should refund most of the DDP and tickets (minus the fee). But it may depend on how soon you cancel - I think it may need to be at least a week prior.

As Robo says, the tickets will retain their value. And you can use the additional DDP credits among the rest of your party if you don't cancel or wouldn't get refunded.

I hope your 3rd returns to good health soon. Enjoy your vacation!

If you are between 2 - 29 days prior to check-in, you can take the guest off the package. You will be refunded the cost of that guest's tickets and dining plan and any extra adult fee you may have incurred. You will be charged a $50 fee. Make sure you do it ASAP as, if you do it the day before check-in, there will be no refund.

I had to cancel 2 people from a package in March & add a new guest. It was outside of the cancellation dates, but a very compassionate CM waived the fee & the unused portion of the package was credited to my account. It may have been because I accidentally started crying when I was canceling it. And believe me, I almost would have rather lost the money rather than cry like I did!
So just be sure to explain the reason for the cancellation. The CM that helped me left the phone for awhile before I knew the fee was waived & I’m sure he was getting permission from a supervisor.

A member of our party had to have emergency back surgery right before our trip. We called WDW and they graciously refunded the ticket price for him. Not sure about the dining plan though. I understand this isn’t a guarantee but it was greatly appreciated. Definitely worth a call.
