Partial Cash Reservation Change?

I am going January 25 - 28 for the EE preview. I only had enough borrowed points to rent 2 days. I needed 13 more to rent the 3rd day - the 27th. I rented 13 points on the rental board, but the renter wasn't able to get a hold of member services today and e-mailed and asked if I wanted a refund. I really don't want a refund, I want to a place to stay that 3rd night. I asked him to try again tomorrow. Should I call member services back tomorrow and add a night on a Cash Ressie, and then when he gets the points tranferred, can I change the cash ressie to a points ressie? Is there a time limit? I am so afraid with the preview and all that if I wait for the rentor to get through, the availability might be gone. What can I do? Any ideas?

Cash nights are not always available. You could see if you could get a cash night and then cancel it if your rental comes through. The 27th is a Friday night, you might be cheaper with cash if you can get the 25% discount.

No, you cannot just switch a cash reservation for a points reservation. At this point, any unreserved nights have already been turned over to CRO for cash reservations anyway. I'd make the cash reservation (the 25% DVC discount MAY be available) and then hope that a point reservation is still available when the transfer is completed. At least that way you'll have that night available and the cash rate may be better than a points needed anyway.

Are you sure about the 27th already being turned over to CRO? I talked to member services today and they said 1/25, 26 & 27 were available, but that I didn't have enough points to reserve the 27th. I reserved 1/25 and 1/26 and said I would probably call back tomorrow for the 27th because another member was transferring points into my account. I was hoping that she would indicate to me whether or not that would be feasible because of the availability, but she said nothing which led me to believe there was enough availability. By the way, I have 7 points and only need the 13 to complete the reservations. The person who is renting the points to me said they would be there by noon tomorrow.

When unreserved points rooms are turned over to CRO at the 60 day point, they can still be reserved for points through member services if requested by a member.
