It was a great weekend...the weather was beautyful, three great pin meets (I traded for the Mrs Potts and Chip Mother's Day auction pin...thank you Lisa! It's a real hot ticket!), the hot seat at WWTBAM (another post)...all topped off by Mickey's Parti Gras!! I know that several people have posted long reports on other boards so I won't repeat what they described but rather just give some impressions.
As Beachangel (who wins the prize for most positive post of the day in my opinion) said...it was FUN FUN FUN!! The registration at Coronado Springs went smoothly and quickly, picking up the merchandise was quick and easy ....the pins are even prettier in person than they are in the pictures. This is my favorite:
(I am also very jealous of everyone who got the mask set). I enjoyed the chase for dubloons...I got two for trades at the trade board (if the pin you chose had a sticker, you got a dubloon), and then I played a trivia game and my team won the coveted gold dubloon! I ended up with 40 or so after playing several games at AK.
Arriving at AK we were greeted by a band and puppets from the AK parade:
I enjoyed the dinner, and although drinks weren't included, they did have a cash bar and the bartender was only too happy to make cosmos for everyone.
We had a bit of a scene with a very strange and rude couple who angrily sat at our table, but otherwise dinner was fun. The desserts were served later in the evening and honestly weren't very good, but I'm not a big fan of either bread pudding or peach cobbler.
The games were fun (despite there being close to 500 people there, the lines seemed to move quickly)...I played skeeball (and I don't understand why the CM got "mad" at me and called for a villain...she said put the ball into the 500 point hole so I walked right up there and just dropped it right in there...
). The other games were fun too! There were tons of characters all night and CM in costume who were all very funny. Here is the Bead Princess, aka Lady Lori, aka Tinkerbell129 with the suave Bollin Pins:
The coronation of the king and "queen"was beautyful and very well done. Look who attended (cue music.."Tale as old as time"..):
The thrones with the outgoing king and queen:
Maleficent tried to crash the party, but all was well in the end:
I didn't get the chance to see "Tough to be a Bug" but I've seen it before, so that was ok.
By the end of the night, I was wearing at least 15 different mardi gras beads...light up ones thanks to Michael and Corey and others thanks to Bead Fairy Lori and Vince(not to mention my Beauty and the Beast Mardi Gras beads). Lots of people were in costume with feathered masks. Michael and Corey bought me the most beautyful butterfly shaped mask which was so much fun to wear...
Here we are with the outgoing king of the Parti Gras:
And here is our very own BrerRabbit with his alter ego...Brer Rabbit
It's unuasual to see Jiminy Cricket out and about so we were lucky to get a picture of him with Sir Corey:
All in all...it was a great weekend and a great event. The only downer was that it all went by soooo fast...sigh.
