It was a great weekend...the weather was beautyful, three great pin meets (I traded for the Mrs Potts and Chip Mother's Day auction pin...thank you Lisa! It's a real hot ticket!), the hot seat at WWTBAM (another post)...all topped off by Mickey's Parti Gras!! I know that several people have posted long reports on other boards so I won't repeat what they described but rather just give some impressions.

As Beachangel (who wins the prize for most positive post of the day in my opinion) said...it was FUN FUN FUN!! The registration at Coronado Springs went smoothly and quickly, picking up the merchandise was quick and easy ....the pins are even prettier in person than they are in the pictures. This is my favorite:

(I am also very jealous of everyone who got the mask set). I enjoyed the chase for dubloons...I got two for trades at the trade board (if the pin you chose had a sticker, you got a dubloon), and then I played a trivia game and my team won the coveted gold dubloon! I ended up with 40 or so after playing several games at AK.

Arriving at AK we were greeted by a band and puppets from the AK parade:

I enjoyed the dinner, and although drinks weren't included, they did have a cash bar and the bartender was only too happy to make cosmos for everyone. :) We had a bit of a scene with a very strange and rude couple who angrily sat at our table, but otherwise dinner was fun. The desserts were served later in the evening and honestly weren't very good, but I'm not a big fan of either bread pudding or peach cobbler.

The games were fun (despite there being close to 500 people there, the lines seemed to move quickly)...I played skeeball (and I don't understand why the CM got "mad" at me and called for a villain...she said put the ball into the 500 point hole so I walked right up there and just dropped it right in there...). The other games were fun too! There were tons of characters all night and CM in costume who were all very funny. Here is the Bead Princess, aka Lady Lori, aka Tinkerbell129 with the suave Bollin Pins:

The coronation of the king and "queen"was beautyful and very well done. Look who attended (cue music.."Tale as old as time"..):

Maleficent tried to crash the party, but all was well in the end:

I didn't get the chance to see "Tough to be a Bug" but I've seen it before, so that was ok.

By the end of the night, I was wearing at least 15 different mardi gras beads...light up ones thanks to Michael and Corey and others thanks to Bead Fairy Lori and Vince(not to mention my Beauty and the Beast Mardi Gras beads). Lots of people were in costume with feathered masks. Michael and Corey bought me the most beautyful butterfly shaped mask which was so much fun to wear...

Here we are with the outgoing king of the Parti Gras:

And here is our very own BrerRabbit with his alter ego...Brer Rabbit :teeth:

It's unuasual to see Jiminy Cricket out and about so we were lucky to get a picture of him with Sir Corey:

All in all...it was a great weekend and a great event. The only downer was that it all went by soooo fast...sigh.:D

Wow! What a Great Event!

Corey and I arrived on Thursday and were lucky enough to secure a Metallic Purple PT Cruiser for our Parti Gras trip. We laughed about requesting this car on the National Car Rental Emerald Aisle. The Manager who was helping us and offered everything to us -- minivan, convertible, and anything else. He looked at me like I was crazy when we asked for a PT Cruiser, but we thought it would be fun for the weekend.

I think Leslie (BeautyLLM)was a bit surprised when we picked her up at the airport -Not sure that she was ready for the PT Cruiser, but eventually she seemed excited about our cool new ride. (we referred to it as the purple royal coach :) ).We checked into our hotel and immediately went the All Star Pin meet where we caught up with Lori (tink 129). Lisa (tiggersmom) and Donna (gotanypins). We had a blast trading and it was great to see all of our friends again.

Friday Night we saw more friends at the contemporary --June and Bob, Vince (parkhopper) and Suzi, Steve (ZXdad), Larry and many others. I got some more great trades that night as well. Ate dinner on the floor of the contemporary pin meet -- A sign of a true pin trader!!!! Thanks for the great trades guys!

Saturday ¡V the registration and set up at Coronado Springs could not have gone smoother. They really had a great set up for us -- lots of trading space, games and activities to fill the day before the event. Product pickup was well organized (Pins are Beautiful!!!! ), and despite others reports, I thought that the RSP return, Toon Town registration, and Final RSP set-up was great. They were VERY organized with descriptive signage for everything. A complete fool could have navigated this part of the event without a problem. We had a blast with the pre-event games and trading. I traded for a holy grail -- the DL PTP pin from 2000. Thanks LISA!!! Finally got to see Suzanne B¡Xalways a pleasure to see her friendly face.

Arriving at the event -- a few of us were dressed in Mardi Gras garb -- which was very fun. We arrived to find like 6 busses waiting to take us to the event. These were Motor Coaches¡Xnot Disney buses- very nice. They loaded us up all up which took a few minutes but no complaints --we were all busy having fun and talking.

Once we arrived at the park they had complimentary lockers for us, and people directing us to the right area of the park. Wow! When we crossed that bridge -- it was really cool. They had a band and flame throwers. There were parade characters and animals -- it really set the tone. A wonderful entrance.

We went to get food and sit down. We saved seats for Donna, Lori, Suzanne B, and a couple others. Went to the food area (which they moved inside because of the cold). They must have had 7 serving areas set up with Salmon, beef, pork tenderloin, wonderful salads and sauces -- the food was VERY well presented and very good! We took advantage of the cash bar and enjoyed some cosmopolitans. We returned to our table and the only disappointing part of the event happened. Some RUDE and OBNOXIOUS woman and her husband decided that the fact that we told them the chairs at our table were reserved, wasn¡¦t good enough and just refused to listen and sat down to inhale their food. They were VERY rude -- I had no idea that people in our pin community could lack the common decency to respect that we were saving space for our friends. So when everyone came back we made due and ignored our unwanted and extremely rude guests.

After dinner we went and played many games that they had for us to win doubloons. What a great time we had hanging out with Leslie, Donna, Lisa, Lori, and Suzanne B. We were lucky enough to win about 50 doubloons and got some great AP pins. The coronation was a real production --So many characters we had seen all night, and then all the Princes, Princesses and Villains at the Coronation. They really made this a worthwhile part of the event. Afterwards we went to redeem our doubloons and pick up our final RSP and headed for the busses. All in all it was a WONDERFUL event. Must have had about 500 -- 600 people -- all of who seemed to have as good a time as we did.

Definitely worth the money -- We were very happy to see many of our friends, and missed seeing others -- Wish all of you could have come!

I sure do wish we could have made it for friday to see you all. Life has been absolutely crazy these last few months. Just recently, mom has been in hospital with pneaumonia, and is now in nursing home, trying to get back on her feet to come home. One of the main things she is anxious to do is go to WDW to see our friends and trade for pins!! LOL! Too funny. She asked me when the next pin event was. So I guess we'll be taking to her to the june event. Hope to see you and everyone else there.

We miss you all and love ya lots!!!
