PART TWO *December 2012 Roll Call* Holidays, FLE & MVMCP!! A very, merry thread!

I have a question about getting back to AoA after MK closes. Let's say I get myself a reservation at Citricos for after 7pm and have a lovely dessert date with my partner. How could we get back to AoA from the GF? Would the monorail be running to TTC so we could get over to Epcot and then either play around there or take a bus back to AoA? Or is there a better way to get from the GF to AoA?

Thanks!

Well, my entire plan is now completely hosed. I have no idea what I'm going to do.

Disney announced the swap of morning EMH between MK and Epcot on the 4th and the 6th. That's irritating but not critical. But if you look at the calendar they also made a change to Wed, Dec 5 - MK closes at 7, Wishes is at 6 and there's no MSEP. That means there's no MSEP again that week until Saturday which is a 9.2 crowd (and the day I have the tour booked at Epcot). Seriously?!?! :headache:

If it were just us, I wouldn't be so upset but with it being my in-laws first time and my MIL's all-time favorite Disney movie is Pete's Dragon.

No one has reported yet why they changed it. I can only hope that it's a mistake because I have no idea how I can work around this one.

I feel for you it must be a real headache now going that opening week to wdw, I don't think the next week is gonna be great either(my week) but on the bright side even thought everything you plan might not go exact, they will have an excellent time, even if they don't get to see MSEP.

Anyone have ideas for window decorations? I haven't done it in so long. No idea what to do and what to use to make it stick besides scotch tape.

I'm planning to do lights and/or garland. And probably something to hang on the door. I generally tie everything up with string and use a door hanger for the door. (Though I think some of the Values with external doors are metal so magnets work.)

I never put anything on the window but lots of people do window clings that don't require adhesive.

I know what you mean. I had us going to MK that night for MSEP an Osborne lights the next night, them closing MK at 7 totally stinks!! It could change again, I think I read the final calendar doesn't come out till mid-November or something like that. So crossing my fingers.

The really weird part is cancelling the parade but Wishes at 6pm. :confused3

Anyone have any fun tips for romantic spots to ask the DGF to become my DF and eventually my DW? (look, I'm catching on to the lingo! ...I think) I'm thinking something private... Im not really the "on the steps of the castle" type. Sooo... What do ya think?

Welcome to the boards and all I can say is WOW on your upcoming engagement! That is so romantic! Heck, I think ANY place in the WORLD would be great for a marriage proposal. We have ADRs at LeCellier too and I think our vacations overlap a bit......I will be looking for a guy on his knees at every turn while we're in Orlando. lol!!!!!

Made dinner reservations at Raglan Road, anybody eaten there? The menu looks good and the reviews I've read seem to be on the positive side.

We ate there last year and loved it. DH questioned why we weren't going back this year, so last week I added on a dinner ADR for us. So yummy! DH said the bread pudding is the best he ever had!

I'll be staying with my girlfriend at BWI Dec 8-16th. Hopefully it will be a very "engaging" experience for us ;)

Alorac,

I know you said no "on the steps of the castle". But what about having that in the background (and if you look close, you can see the Walt and Mickey statue too). BDLsgal always said "nothing really public", so I was lucky when she said YES.

My proposal was semi-spontaneous. We both knew that I'd propose at some time, just didn't know when. In fact, at 1 point during our last trip BDLsgal even said to me "You better not propose to me down here. This is a special time for US. I don't want to go back to a bunch of 'I told you so's." (members of my family thought I planned the trip for just this occassion and were being a pain in the donkey about it). But, it felt like the right time. So the night before the last day, BDLsgal went back to the room, while I went to Riverside Mill to "pick up dinner". I went into Fulton's shop and got her a Mouse-head ring in her size.

But, I went down with my girlfriend. I went down without intention of proposing. And came back with a fiance'.

Even if you don't want to propose in front of the Castle, think about a photopass stop somewhere. Maybe in front of the Christmas tree at the Grand Floridian. And having a couple of alternate plans going down might be a good idea. Sometimes I wish I had gone down with at least 1 plan.

We did MNSSHP and this year we will do MVMCP. It worked great for us. We really enjoyed it and walked on most everything we wanted to ride. I know it won't be like the first time, but I think with the Christmas decorations and she's back and never dreamed it would be so soon, will be special. This is our first MVMCP too but I think MNSSHP will be our next trip. We may have to stake off a year, though. Next year will be ds senior year in college and he runs cross country. October is the end of his season and we want to travel to all his meets.....did you do F&W too? I'd like to incorporate both!

Brief background about your upcoming trip (include dates):Just made our reservation yesterday for 12/15-22 returning to POR and it is a Royal Room. That's all they had for FD. We overlap a day or two.....we're staying at POR too, but will be in the AB section

My Disney touring style - Commando or Turtle? We're fairly commando. Thanks to the DIS we were masters for the FP and followed a TouringPlan for the most part and it worked like magic. We take breaks, but we're pretty early risers, too. I'm tempted to do the Touring Plan too but I'm fighting my urge to control this whole trip. It really goes against my nature to NOT have everything planned out to a "T" but I'm trying to ease up and relax a bit more...i think that happens as your get older and since it's just me and dh......

We will try and hit a few things we missed last time and eliminate some of the been there done that's. I have a feeling Splash will be ridden many times, as well as Kali. We're from Ohio...December in FL will be balmy to us! Hubby is from NE Ohio and he loves the cold. It'll be pretty cold in StL so we're looking forward to retreating to the warmer weather in Florida too.....although I've been in December once 1997 and it got pretty darned cold that trip :(

We liked park hopping. Everyone says don't do it on your first trip, but we did. It was fun for us. I love POR, great Bloody Mary's in the bar! My DD even had a virgin one, they were impressed! Memo to self: try Bloody Mary's at POR! Actually, this is my drink of choice on the plane too......I'm not a good flyer.

I decided, while we should probably save the money, she is only little once. It is amazing what she remembers about that trip. Life is too short. You can always make more money. Get to the World, I say!WORD. Life is short, indeed. Enjoy each day and enjoy YOUR trip and your little girl every minute! My dd is 21 and is moving into an apartment next Monday. While I *know* this is the way life is supposed to work, I'm surprisingly not prepared for it!
.

Has anyone eaten at Grand Floridian Cafe? DH want to eat lunch at GF before MVMCP but I've never eaten there. Thoughts?

I'm anxious to hear an answer for this too! I have this or Contemporary's cs "penciled in" for lunch on Dec 10, our resort hop day. I've stayed at WL many years ago so Roaring Forks isn't necessary for me this trip.....although we'll eat wherever if we're hungry enough :)

Hey guys. I'm sorry if this question has been asked before. But I just started reading part #1. In 2007, my mom and I went from dec 13 to 19. Parts of it was hot, and parts of it, well we wanted to have our winter coats.

Are you guys brining boots and coats?
We are NOT bringing winter coats. I bought several long sleeve thermal shirts from Disneystore dot com and hubby will, of course, bring his Ohio State hoodie......I also bought a long sleep zip-up disney jacket too. I think that's the bad part of traveling in December....you never know what the temperature will be like. I think you pretty much have to pack it all! I've heard that layering is the way to go so that's why we aren't bringing winter coats....but we're from StL/Ohio so I think our skin is a little "thicker". lol

Just noticed that TTDP ADRs are open for November! Almost Decembers turn!! Can't wait :cool1:...
Do you guys think you can get a good view of MSEP AND get to the Dessert Party in time to get Dessert? My friend says the absolute best place to see MSEP is over at Pecos Bills but I don't know how we could possibly get to the TTDP in time. Our problem is we've NEVER seen MSEP so that is a priority this trip. Where do you think would be the best place for BOTH? I really did want to do the TTDP but not sure where we could fit that in where we'd be able to partake of said desserts......which look yummy from the pictures I've seen!

What day are you going? And what time does the dessert party start? I think it would depend on how crowded it is.

Well I'll be in big trouble if they do anything like that on our trip Dec 9-17. MSEP is only offered 3 times that week....and I have Illuminations Cruise and La Nouba planned for 2 out of 3 of those. Even changing EMH will mess up our transportation plans on some days. Don't those people read these boards and know what planners we are?

Wednesday 12/12/12 MSEP is at 7pm and Wishes is at 8pm. At least that's what the schedule says so far. The day before and the day after are party days, thus no MSEP or Wishes :(

Just wanted to update ours...

Still 11th-14th but with a room discount, we switched to Grand Floridian...

99 days to go!

The really weird part is cancelling the parade but Wishes at 6pm. :confused3

I feel your pain! This has messed up our plans too, especially when the parade was only going to be a couple times during our visit anyway. I hate when they make you plan at 180 days out because of ADRs, then change things on you. We are going to have to go to the parade/fireworks on the day we arrive starting at 9:00pm. I hate starting the trip with such a late night, but we will have to, if we want to see the parade.

Does anyone know if it's OK to make an ADR just to have dessert? I kinda want to try the banana chocolate torte at Citricos, but don't want a full meal there.

No where have I see says you can not.... I have an ADR and California Grill and Flying Fish purely for drinks and appetizers or a dessert... We are doing a "family" dinner ADR and once the kids are down my husband and I are going out at night (MIL babysitting) :lovestruc We need a few grown up date nights and I have gone and done something similar at restaurants not in Disney. I plan on spending a few bucks, not nearly as much as dinner but it's not like I am getting a coffee and that's it...

I also figure it this way. I have sat down in Disney Restaurants and gotten appetizers for dinner - I was never told I had to get a full meal then.

Post #3 "Get to Know a Roll Caller" is UPDATED!!

Now featuring sokerfrog and grrrlennyl!

Loving the getting to know your roll callers posts!
Nice to meet you sokerfrog & grrrlennyl! I love that vinylmation!

I haven't posted much lately, for the last 2 weeks either one of the boys or I have been sick. The biggest drawback to the back to school time period!

I'm rethinking one of my ADRs. I managed to get a Le Cellier our 1st night & now I'm having second thoughts using the 2 credits.....any opinions?!
