You're good to help those that can't help themselves. I'm calling him Sandy (think hurricane and also orphan Annie's dog... Saaannndddyyy.... good ole' Sandy)... :rolleyes1

I don't know what color he was at first, so if he had been buff colored I would have named him Sandy. But since he is not I'm calling him Hurricane. :rotfl:

Oh, and I forgot to mention, ONE MONTH FROM TODAY!!!! party:

Hello all! I hope everyone else who is in the path of Sandy is staying safe! It is pretty windy now and raining harder, but the worst isn't expected here until 5-6pm, and will last about 12 hours. Winds of 60 mph, gusts up to 110 mph possible, and extremely heavy, flash-flood causing, rains. I'm safe and sound inside now, and don't have any reason to leave until Wednesday!

I'm even heavy one extra cat. Actually, a 4 week old kitten! :goodvibes A woman found him in a box in her apartment complex late last night, and no one knew where he came from. She can't keep him (absolutely no pets of any type allowed there) so she took him to the local vet this morning to ask if they knew where she could take him. They happen to be my vet and know I foster, so they called. Picked him up around 10:30am and decided his name is Hurricane! :lmao: He is sweet as can be, not afraid of the dog or other cats, though he is being kept separated from them for now since he is itty bitty (fits in my hand) and needs kitten food only. Here is a pic of him!

He has a slight limp in his front right leg that the vet thinks is just a minor pulled muscle, but otherwise seems completely healthy. And he is eating great already. So glad he was found and is not out in this horrible weather!

Stay safe everyone on the East Coast, and everyone else, happy Monday to you!

Awe, how cute. How nice of you & what a cute name!

East Coast/Mid Atlantic friends--- wishing you the best! Stay safe and dry.

Some helpful tips from a Florida chick that people have given me before:

-Fill ziplock bags with water and freeze. That way you have some ice, and when it melts, you have water.
-Fill bathtubs with water (for washing, not drinking)
-Crank up your refrigerator to lowest setting, so if you loose power, things are extra cool in there.
-Turn off unwanted apps on your phone (yes the Disney wait times ones etc) and lower brightness as well. Turn phone to airplane setting. This will help reserve power.

I love hopping and besides, I have to get my money's worth out of that rental car y'all talked me into getting ::yes::

Umm.........5 or 6 attractions in 3 1/2 hours PLUS the 2 hours after our dinner ADR is meandering to me! Do you know how much I could cram into that time if I planned it full out commando??? And besides, sissy's lucky I remembered to schedule bathroom breaks into the touring plans this time (there might have been a slight meltdown during our April DL trip that went along the lines of my arguing that our half sister, who has no colon anymore due to cancer, couldn't go to the restroom when she needed to because I didn't have it scheduled and it would throw off the rest of the touring plan :rolleyes1)

I will say, I'm glad we're doing the DxDDP this time, but I'm not sure I'll ever do it again. All those TS ADRs really cut into park time! Oh well, we probably need the ADRs for breaks/down time, since I don't have any other rests scheduled, so I guess it works out, and I'm certainly not complaining about getting to try all these different restaurants!

Normally I would build in more down time, but we've only got 3 1/2 days of park time AND both sissy and I are educators (sissy's a kinder teacher, my current job is more admin), so we're off work through Jan. 2nd, which means we'll have a long time to recover from going full out for 4 days straight.

Mom is slightly worried we'll be "worthless" for the big family get together on Christmas Eve since our flight leaves at 6 am on the 23rd and we'll have to drive from St. Louis back to Kansas City after our flight lands. She's probably right, but Disney's more important than actually staying awake during Mass on Christmas Eve, right??? ::

Correct! Just make sure you are awake for the drive home to KC!

I'm here trying to get away from you all, so I can get something done today!

I'm watching the weather on TV, you are all in my thoughts and prayers, it will end soon, hope you don't lose power, keep us informed so we know your all okay!

32 days for me after today....party::dancer:

Reading through some of these planning posts, doesn't make me feel so crazy for planning out each day now. My parents think I am nuts for saying oh we are going go here for dinner on this day and so on. ;) The last trip we argued about where we would eat, why go through all that again. :confused3

you're still crazy, you just found a place where we all are! :thumbsup2:rotfl:

They are West of the city - Maryland Heights area.

The one the Fox is getting this year that I'm hoping I can snag a ticket for is Book of Mormon. We'll probably get it in KC next year since it's so popular, but I'd definitely drive out to STL to get to see it this year! Wicked is FANTASTIC! The other one the Fox is getting this year that we've seen that was phenomenal is Million Dollar Quartet. If you haven't seen either of those yet they are definitely a treat!

Good point :thumbsup2 I guess my Keurig will get one heck of a workout Christmas

I took my sister to see Wicked when it was at the Fox either last year or the year before. It was *wicked* good :lmao: ! My church is in Maryland Heights and my brother in law is a sergeant in the Maryland Heights PD......

I've put off getting a Keurig although I have purchased pumpkin spice cartridges since we're staying the first night of our Orlando trip at Royal Pacific resort at Universal. They have Keurigs in the rooms ;)

So far we just have rain here in DC. But the wind is starting to pick up. Judging by our backyard I suspect there's already a fair amount if flooding.

The storm strengthened more than expected overnight. So now they're saying max winds of 85 mph instead of 70.

Everyone stay safe.

Ugg! Once we get home from our trip I will be glued to the weather channel! I sure hope everyone is pixie-dusted and makes it through all this weather unscathed.

Thank you!! I am just trying to pick the "best" days at the busiest time of year..lol. We of course want to do the big stuff at every park. We were there 14yrs ago..so I am calling this our first trip..:cool1: We plan to be at rope drop for whatever park we are going to do that day. Get to the #1 ride on our list..then fastpasses for the other.

That's a good plan! Have you looked at some of the crowd calendars? I know undercover tourist dot com has one and I know there are others. When I first started my planning I looked at those and at the EMH at each park (I forget if you are staying onsite or not). If you know there are certain restaurants you would like to go to it is a good idea to look now. You may need to plan a park around an ADR (advanced dinner reservation).

Thanks everyone, he knows he is cute too! Technically since he is so young he shouldn't be around the other cats since his immune system isn't fully formed yet, even with them being heathy. However, he is very lonely in his crate alone, so he is currently curled up under a towel on my lap. I had to give him a bath since he was kind of dirty, and I don't want him wet and cold all alone in his crate! :thumbsup2:rolleyes1

I've fostered literally hundreds of cats. In the past 5 years it's been about 300, mostly kittens but a couple dozen cats in there too. I have a 6 month old foster right now too that my aunt found on 4th of July (her name is Firework). She is taking some time as she loves other cats, but is very skittish still with people. She is getting better though and does allow pets as long as you are sitting still and she approaches you. :)

Aw, how lucky for that lettle kitty that you are so experienced!

We have 2 rescue cats and 1 rescue dog. One of my kitties was so young she had to be bottle fed by her fostermom!

Has anyone ever done the Sunday Gospel Brunch at House of Blues?
I've always wanted to try it and there's one in Vegas also but just haven't gotten around to it...

I would live to do this but I'm afraid hubby would probably be kicking and screaming all the way to the buffet. Soas not to embarrass myself or any of you that might be in DTD at the time, I think we will have to skip it this trip. Search the restaurant boards for reviews. I think I've found a couple good ones.

What's on the need to buy list? I wanna cheat off to make sure I'm not missing anything, lol.

LOL. Here is my list.

Christmas shirt--Val
Sox--Ed
1 pair of jeans--Ed
Christmas soap
small Hand sanitizer
window clings
Mickey light up necklace
Mickey/Minnie poppers
extra memory card
PP+
organizer thingy to hang in closet ??

DH mentioned this weekend that we should pay attention to the temps in November, to make sure it is cool enough to go the week before Thanksgiving. I told him what a deal it would be if we get a bounce back in the room and upgrade our tickets to APs. I mean, practically free!! But no, he still doesn't want to go until 2015 or 2016.

And I forgot to tell you I had a Disney dream!!!! We were getting on TSMM and for some reason we were told we got to ride twice in a row without getting off. So the ride starts and it is completely different. These holography things are flying in your face and they are all scary monsters and ghosts and stuff. But really scary, not Disney scary. I am freaking out and screaming and upset because we have to ride it twice. :confused3

So I just called DVC about buying a PAP (hahaha now I am going to laugh everytime I type that out) and decided to wait - sounds like it will be easier to do at Guest Relations when we get our TiW card....

However.... Category 2 tickets to La Nouba - 2 for $106.... Sooooo tempting!

Do you guys right stuff down? Do touring plans on websites? How do you keep track of everything once you start planning? I plan to follow easywdw for their crowd plan/schedule.

I have a google document that I got from someone on the dis boards. She had the crowd calendar info, park hours, and parade/events listed on each day with spots to fill in for breakfast, morning plans, lunch, afternoon plans, dinner, and evening plans. I filled in my ADR info for each day as well as my expected park info and how we were going to get from one place to the next (we're depending on Disney transportation). It's the only way I could keep everything organized in my head! I'll print it once I'm sure I'm done moving my ADR times around ;). On the upside, since it's 45 days out for you, you may have good luck booking some exciting ADRs if you are so inclined!!

Maybe while you are there you could convince him :) It's a lot easier to do sometimes... :goodvibes

We have a shared Google calendar for that. We put in the ADR and in the notes put the Conf#s. We both have that synched to our phones.

I put the spreadsheets in Dropbox so we can share them. I also did one of DDP approved snacks from that thread. This way we can see them in the parks. I did sign up for Touring Plans and installed that app.

I make a lot of lists in the Notes App in my iPhone. I'll do that for things I HAVE to bring back. Like the shampoo from Basin and gingerbread for a friend.

DBF will just follow me. He won't go on EE or RnRC either. But he may wait in the queue with me and take the chicken exit or he might just hit the gift shops. He already agreed to hold my Vera Bradley backpack.. :cool1:

But this is as much his vacation as it is mine, so I'll make sure we will do things we both want. We made our ADRs together (except CRT that was all me!).

We'll have a laptop with us so it'll be easy enough to edit the spreadsheet at the end of each day. Or even in an app on his Droid.

I used to be an event planner. I tend to over plan everything.

How do you share a google document or how do you get your google document on your iPhone? I'd love to put my google calendar document (it's really more of a spreadsheet) on my iPhone!
