DAY 7 - Feb. 9, 2001

I woke in a sad mood, as today was our last full day....I don't want to go home!!! We slept in a little and wandered to ASMo food court for breakfast. I'd planned on the Spoodles breakfast buffet but none of us really wanted to get up early and travel around a lot. I do plan to the nth degree but I am flexible! We ate breakfast and then headed to the favorite park.....MK. Got there just after the park opened and did something radical. We rode the little firetruck from City Hall to the castle, then we grabbed the horse carriage back to City Hall, and then another horse carriage back to the castle....could you tell we weren't in a hurry? Went over and got a fastpass for SpaceMt, since it had been closed most of the week, the standby line was 25 min. and the fastpass return time was also 25 min. JR and Grammy rode the speedway! Yuck! JR loved it. Grammy came away with a headache. We got on Buzz just before a huge crowd. Then as I rode SpaceMt., Grammy and JR rode TTA for the 50th time.

A really cute side note....when we eventually got home, Daddy asked JR what his favorite ride was. JR replied SpaceMt! "No, mommy didn't take you on SpaceMt" Daddy replied looking at Mommy like she was crazy. "Yes" JR insisted. " I rode SpaceMt and it was fun". The best we can figure is that when riding TTA you do go through SpaceMt, guess JR thought that was the whole ride! We did ride through during the time that SpaceMt was being rehabed and it was so cool to see it with the lights on.

Another side note, JR is a very tall 3 yr old. He measures just about 40 inches but we did not take him on any of the height restricted rides. The kid is fearless when confronted by scary things (witches, dinos, pirates etc) but really didn't seem to like bouncy rides like Goofy's Barnstormer, which he rode once but did not want to ride again. I guess it might take a couple of years for the Mommy thrill ride gene to override the Daddy-You're not getting me on that-gene.

We hit Carousel of Progress (one of Grammy's favorites) after missing it all week....the limited hours really made it difficult for us. JR and Grammy happily sang along, while Mommy napped. As we were leaving Carousel, we stopped by the little Buzz shop and JR finally picked out a Buzz and Woody doll to get with his Christmas money....yay! shopping complete. We bopped into Toontown and saw Minnie's house and played on the playground for a while. The crowds were really beginning to pick up and Mommy's tolerance for crowds is not very high. We ran over to the other side of the park and saw Country Bear Jamboree. I hadn't seen it in years! Prob. not since 94 on our honeymoon. Most the audience was over 60 yr old....seemed very strange. JR loved the bears and the talking moose, deer and buffalo. I'm sure we'll be seeing this one again on future trips. After this we were headed back to ASMo for our nap.

We napped, packed and played in Andy's room before grabbing some dinner in the food court. JR loved the pasta. Over the course of the week, Grammy and I had tried lots of stuff on their menu and all of it was great. We had eaten the chicken strips, philly steak sandwich, taco salad, mixed green salad and the ind. pizza. I can't remember exactly what we ate this time but it was good and filling. I'd tried to get PS at Tony's for dinner, just the day before and it was a no go! Seems the cheerleaders were really starting to put a cramp in our style. Overall, we did see a lot of cheerleaders and dancers (early in the week) but their rooms were at the other end of ASMo (Mighty Ducks and Dalmations), so we never really had any problems. All the groups we saw were very well behaved. We finished dinner and heading back to MK. Since we missed MSEP on our arrival day, we had to see it tonight or never! Got to MK to see a huge crowd, yuck! Rode the train around to the SplashMt. exit and jumped on Pirates again. Jungle cruise had a horrible line so we made a mental note to try again tomorrow. By this time it was getting close to 7:15 and the MSEP was at 8. I stopped at Casey's to grab fries for JR and cokes for Grammy and I. Since the lines at Casey's were huge, I sent Grammy and JR on a mission to find a good seat for the parade. Thank goodness for those 2way radios. Found them at a good second row seat right in front of City Hall. As long as the curb sitters didn't stand we would be fine. JR was good for the long wait...we kept him supplied with fries and popcorn. Once again we were awed by the parade. JR sat enthralled for the entire time. I was really put off by the crowds though....they seemed pushier than last time. I bent over JR (who was in his stroller) to pick up something and when I went to stand up straight, someone had pushed their way up to the stroller in my spot! I had moved for no more than 10 seconds! Then we had a gentleman (loosely described) reach over and pick up my backpack that was resting on my foot, so his kid could stand in the spot. My personal safety/crowd behavior took over and that guy is lucky to still have an arm, after grabbing my backpack in the dark! We left MK after the parade (missing the fireworks) so we could get some rest before EE tomorrow. Boo hoo, our last night.

I know what you mean about waking up and knowing its your last full day at the world. Thanks for posting!

Sorry to hear about the crowds and the rudeness of some people. I too do not like it when it is packed like that. But at least you got to see it on your last night there! Thanks for Posting!
