LOL. Were the fish ok?

The fish are fine thank you - I kept a check on them. Still smells horrible here in :teeth:

Hi all,

I have been off of this board for days-signing papers, meeting with contractors, selling stuff on-line, packing up the house and oh, by the way, we are leaving in 2 days for WDW! This is crazy, the worst timing but I am so glad we are doing it. I can't wait to relax among the zebras and scream on some rides for stress relief.

Anyway.I started a trip report:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=46795826#post46795826

Wow! Crazy crazy for you!!! Hoping it all goes smooth hun x

We are 2 days out and I'm dragging my butt to the walk in this morning. The sore throat/stuffiness/cough isn't going away, and while it might be nothing, I don't want to be in WDW for 10 days feeling miserable when there was something I could have done for it....

I'm right there with you.

Woke up this morning and felt like I was hit by a ton of bricks.

I have exactly three days to shake this before the wedding/honeymoon kicks off.

Better now than next week, I suppose?

Hydrate and rest!

You two need to hydrate, eat oranges and rest. You also need to make a hot drink of honey, lemon, brown sugar, and a sachet of aspirin powder (or similar depending on what you can take). If you like, you can even put a slug of whiskey in it too. Hope you both start to feel better soon

How did I miss this thread???? :confused3

We will arrive in orlando on the 21st, spend the night at an airport hotel then check into our 5 bedroom house on the 22nd! We will be staying through the 4th. There are 8 of us. FIL has just finished up his chemo treatments so this is our kicking cancers butt christmas celebration! :cool1:

I don't know because we're not exactly quiet :rotfl: Welcome to our group!!

and he says "the heater on the fish tank blew up"

Now thats not very dramatic is it??? You were on the edge of your seat until I said 'the heater on the fish tank', weren't you :p Apparently the flame was about 2 inches high and one cup of water put it out. The thick smoke was from the plastic housing melting

:teeth:

Are the fish ok? I concur you really do need to blog.

Congrats! Hoping closing goes smoothly!

In one week from now, I will be commenting on this thread (Part 4 or 5?) that it will be 5 day till we leave for WDW.

I think we may hit Part 5 before the weekend! It's only 20 something pages and we've been known to do 10 pages a day in the past.

Busy but a totally unproductive day, do you know what I mean?

Soooo, I'm pottering about (about 5pm) and DD is doing her homework. DH is in the bedroom doing whatever. DD & I hear a loudish crash downstairs. The floor there is tiled so I'm thinking a large tin has fallen from a shelf (despite the fact I don't have a large tin down there :confused3 ). I then think .... oooh what if there is a critter down there!?!? I'd better go down and get rid before a full scale house drama breaks out - you know the kind .... DD running round screaming, the cats having an eppy, DH bursting out to see what all the noise is, me laughing in the corner  ....

As I go downstairs I smell burning, so then I start to run, we have a clear glass panel door and all I can see is thick smoke   I can't see flames, but it could be around the corner in the other room. Is the door to that room open? OMG, how long will it take for the house to burn down? All this flying through my head while I absolutely peg it back upstairs and down the hallway. I burst into our bedroom and say really calmly (which was weird) "Hey hun, theres a fire downstairs and I'm not quite sure how to handle it" Then its all slow-motion, he leaps up, "Get Bronwyn & the dog and stay here" he says in a really manly voice, running down the hallway (remember, still in slow motion) jumps down the whole flight of stairs ..... not even a minute passes but it seems like ages. I can hear him coughing, faffing around, he eventually emerges up the stairs ... through the smoke.... coughing ..... and he says "the heater on the fish tank blew up"

Now thats not very dramatic is it??? You were on the edge of your seat until I said 'the heater on the fish tank', weren't you :p Apparently the flame was about 2 inches high and one cup of water put it out. The thick smoke was from the plastic housing melting

:teeth:

Thankfully it was small and your DH put it out. If not, it could of spread to your house. Definitely scary. I would have immediately started to panic if it were me. Glad you guys are ok!

Good morning!!!

Glad the fish are okay, Wedgie.

Have a great trip Gina!! You leave tomorrow night!!! Wow! :faint:

What a great thing to be celebrating :-)

So for those of you who get their mail held... Does the PO deliver it all when you get back or do you pick it up?

I'm trying to stay well. Not an easy task when you take public transportation every day.

I did a bit of online shopping yesterday. Eddie Bauer had 40% off and free shipping. I bought a new winter coat. With waiting for the bus, I needed something that came down mid-calf. I can't wait to get it. I also ordered 2 presents for DBF. One he'll get prior to the trip. It's an external battery pack for his phone. Since I know some places his battery drains quickly, I thought it would be good to have in the park.

We leave in 12 days. I have 9 more days of work (including today) :hyper: I'm bouncing off the walls!

We've done both but I prefer to pick it up in case we are delayed - you never know when you might have to spend an extra few days at Disney (she says keeping fingers crossed). :lmao:

Our carrier will deliver it. I hate going to the P.O., and my neighbor would get it for me if we were delayed.

Oh my goodness, I'm glad it all turned out ok because now I'm giggling. Smoke is scary especially if you can't figure out where it's coming from.

We are arriving on 12/26 after a Christmas Present Surprise! We'll be staying at BLT!!!

I am most looking forward to the Be Our Guest reservation and The Candlelight Processional with Marlee Matlin.

I'm wondering how I will possibly be able to get through the next month as I am currently OBSESSED with everything I can read about the craziness of Christmas week.

Welcome!!!

Question:

For those of us Roll Callers NOT at WDW for X-mas (Dec 24th/25th)...what are you doing in terms of holiday prep? Scaling back? Decorating/wrapping/shopping earlier than normal?

We're flat out nuts, here. We're at WDW from the 5th - 15th. We've got 3 young kids. We're trying (and so far, so good) to get just about everything (short of baking) done before we leave for WDW. Last night, my wife and I sat down and wrapped pretty much every gift currently in the house (about 30+ packages). Shopping is pretty much done for the kids. Halls are decked (inside and out).

We ARE scaling back on the "decking". Less stuff outside and a mini-tree inside. Just makes things a bit easier.

I'd love to hear about others plans/experiences. Interesting to hear how it all fits together with the trip prep that we're all doing, too!

WElCOME! Maybe we'll see you there, we arrive on the 24th. :cool1:

My DS is Typhoid Mary. He brings everything home from school to the rest of us but gets away with nothing but a sniffle.

:lmao: Yeah my little one is like that too.

I work at a university, so you KNOW how carefully the average college student takes care of themselves :) It's just like a daycare for bigger kids when it comes to germs!
:lmao::lmao:

I go pick it up. its on my way to work anyway, I always have it held a few more days. Dont have to this time though, since MIL is house sitting :cool1:

HEY dont discriminate! :lmao: we went full out anyways, even though we leave the 24th. AND we are having a Christmas dinner on the 23rd with my MIL. Best of both worlds, I think :cheer2:

I broke down and went to the doc yesterday since my teeth were hurting. I knew sinus infection was here. Boo. So today I have good meds :cheer2: and starting to feel better.

Yeah I'm looking forward to some AK at night. I'm thinking that if we can make it to AK before noon we'll be good. I also think we might head back there on our depature day for a few hours, so that'll help me come to terms with sleeping in. I think our AK day is 12/16.

Good morning, roll callers. Question of the day: Dole whip, dole whip float, or citrus swirl?

I've never had any. I'm leaning towards the float because I love pineapple juice. But...I could be persuaded otherwise :confused3

I think I'll try citrus swirl this trip. I love dole whip and DW floats, but want to try citrus swirl (I remember the orange bird from when I was a kid)

Hahaha Part 4?? Really? We better hit part 5 by Thursday so I don't have to search for it on vacation!

That's what I'm saying!! Don't worry with some of us leaving I'm certain we'll be to part 5 quickly

So, here is a random question for you guys. What type of shoes do you prefer to wear for all day walking through the parks. Last year, I think I wore tennis shoes everyday but one and that one day I wore a pair of Toms. I distinctly remember my feet hurting more that night, too. I'm going to take my Nikes and a more dressy-looking athletic shoe, too. I'm trying to decide whether to order a pair of the Sanuk yoga mat flip flops. DH has a pair and they are extremely comfortable, just don't know how they would be all the walking I will be doing in the parks. :confused3

I switch off between tennis shoes (love Saucony!) and Merrell sandals. If I try to wear tennis shoes every day no matter how well broken in they are I start getting blisters. The Merrells are pricy, but the insole on them is fantastic and a $70 pair will usually last me 2 or 3 years wearing them every day in the summer where other (cheaper) brands I've tried just fall apart in less than a year.

Busy but a totally unproductive day, do you know what I mean?

OMG TOO FUNNY!!! :rotfl: To be fair though, I would have freaked out too seeing all that smoke. Guess DH really earned his keep yesterday :lmao:

We are scaling back (didn't hang lights outside, plus we need to buy new ones and hopefully next Christmas will be in a new house!) I wanted to get stuff done prior but haven't been successful between car issues, DH having 7 day work weeks and being sick... We will go cut a tree down when we get home and finish our shopping the 16th :)

Sorry...don't mean to leave people out. :)

Interesting, though. You went (are going) full bore? Tree and all?

Out of curiosity...how are you going to handle gift exchange? Bringing them with and doing at WDW? Or are you just saving that part for when you get back?

We've talked about going FOR X-mas..but always thought it would be too hard with our kids at the age they are right now. The gift exchange presents interesting hurdles (wink wink) that we don't want to try to tackle. We might try, though, once they're older.
