Wow, a bachelor party starting early in the morning instead of in the evening?! I'd be nervous too!

Hope you have a great time!
I liked parts of Eat Pray Love, mostly the Italy part, but I honestly enjoyed Committed a lot more. Maybe just because I read it first/was more interested in the topic? Dunno, curious to see what others think comparing the two.
My grandparents and their siblings speak Japanese and English pretty interchangeably (most were born/all were raised American, so its early 1900's version of Japanese), but mostly its the old people part that makes it boring as my body hasn't broken down yet. Even when I can understand them I'm bored as I don't want to hear about which of their contemporaries has died and how their health has deteriorated since the last time they saw each other. My Japanese is limited to incidental expressions/epithets you shout at children (lots of "get out of bed" "get to work" "I'm so cold!" "are you hurt?" "stop doing that!" sort of things), which isn't terribly useful either.

And food of course, which is a lot more useful. After WWII they didn't want the next generations to seem less than American so none of us were taught the language, very deliberately, though a few of my cousins went to school to go learn it.
We like hearing about weddings because we all fondly remember our own. Not boring at all.
Oh I'm so sorry. Its a good thing you didn't cancel Plan B reservations. I'm sure you'll have a great trip either way and hopefully soon your in-laws will feel up to making a trip of their own.
I'm off to the hospital today. Last night we thought my grandfather had a stroke but it turns out its just large amounts of fluid on the brain, which explains a lot of other problems he's been having. Now we're waiting on the neurologist for a recommendation since surgery isn't a good idea at his age.
