I say something like this to my sister in law a lot. I think what military families do is amazing. I think about how I get upset over DHs long hours and work weeks and then I get brought back to reality. I'm amazed, impressed, grateful, thankful for what these families do, from serving our country overseas to holding everything together home. Amazing!

I watch a lot of homecoming videos and I'm always in tears - in real life I'd be a wreck :) I find this so heart warming! However certain members of my family would probably go "Hey is that the family who is getting surprised by their father coming home from Afghanistan?" :scared:

I feel the same way... one of the family member's husbands flies special ops. She doesn't even know when he'll be gone. And I have the gall to complain when they change my husband's schedule at work. We are so lucky that these people do this for us.

Gooooodddd morning!!

I can officially say "I'm getting married next week!"

12 days until Disney!

It's a good Monday.

And I thought I was excited about Disney. Congrats! And definitely don't sweat it if something goes "wrong." It's unlikely anyone else will even notice, and weddings are beautiful because we love to watch two people in love, not because they have nice flowers or good food.

These are so beautiful! I'm sure it was fun to make, esp knowing that your son will have such a fun reaction to them! I NEED a Silhouette, I think!

Totally, I love doing stuff for that kid. Makes me smile just thinking about how excited he will be. Sooooo cute last night watching Sofia the First. He's been asking for it ever since they started playing previews months ago. He was literally jumping up and down. I can't wait to see his face when he realizes we're going to eat in the castle.

Good morning!!
Our kids have school today & tomorrow.
DH & DD are planning to see Wreck It Ralph on Friday. I may go with them.

I'm a little in shock that all of a sudden members of our little group will be starting their trips very soon. I'm at 17 days! at some point it all seems soooooo far away - and we didn't even book until August!

So, a little fun for a Monday morning

Anyone planning on matching outfits? :rotfl: :lmao:

(compliments of DD who found this on a Disney account she follows on instagram. I think it's Disney Before You Die, sort of a bucket list of to-dos)

Um, WOW. I am rendered speechless.

Well put. I tried to keep in mind the things that I personally remembered or enjoyed from the weddings I've attended while we planned ours.

Just remember to eat dinner. You will need your energy. When the ex and I married we ended up ordering a pizza later that night (at like 11) because we had like 2 bites of the dinner we worked so hard to pick out. :rotfl:

Also true. Although ordering pizzas the night of doesn't sound too bad to me. :cool1:

Morning peeps! My kids are out of school all this week, so I'm working from home today, hubby tomorrow and wed we leave for Thanksgiving at my dads.

Today my oldest gave up a day of vacation to go volunteer at a family homeless shelter with her church youth group. Its her first time to go to a place like this, before she moved it to Junior High the mission projects for the younger kids usually involve packing and sorting stuff for other groups, so this is her first "hands on" experience. They are packing lunches to distribute to homeless kids, and helping out around the shelter. I imagine her little world will be rocked, but I'm very thankful she has a heart of service already.

My youngest DD is painting thanksgiving pictures, and I'm TRYING to work, but failing!

A friend of mine left from here yesterday for WDW, their first time, and she's been sending me pictures of their adventures - Im SO JEALOUS! I feel like this is my trip too bc I helped her plan. They are having a blast already today (followed advice and went early!). I picked up some Disney handwarmers at target, too cute!

Good for your daughter! It's great that she is starting volunteering young.

And don't you love it when you give advice to people about their WDW vacation and they follow it! Good for them, I'm sure they will have a great time.

Ok so for those of you who asked - $46 for a mini 2 tier fondant cake. Fireworks theme, with a small Cinderella Castle and "Happily Ever After" written in the serving tray :)

And I will know 100% tomorrow but my Husbands sister and DH should be with us for 4 niights!!!! We haven't seen them in 6 years. BIL is in the marines and should have the final ok by tomorrow!!!

:yay:

Don't think I've mentioned yet but my parents are going to WDW this week, leaving tomorrow night actually! I'm dropping them off at the airport at 5pm so they don't have to leave a car there. This is their second Thanksgiving week trip and I think their 6th-7th trip to WDW, but the first time staying at a hotel in property, though they have stayed in their RV at Ft Wilderness a few times. I'm excited for their trip, since I leave a couple days after they get back, and I can pick their brains for what they saw and experienced while there. :rotfl:

On December 7th, probably around 3pm-ish, my husband will be surprising our four kids at the Art of Animation resort straight from Afghanistan.

He's been gone a year, and they have NO IDEA he'll be coming home, and no idea they are going to disney.

See you there!!!

We leave on the 5th but would've loved to share in this with you! Thank you to you and your family for their service. I hope you all have a wonderful vacation!

Gooooodddd morning!!

It's a good Monday.

This is amazing! Congrats to you and the future Mrs.

The day will fly by and you'll be amazed when it's all done at how quickly all the hardwork and planning was over! Enjoy as much as you can. The marriage is the entree - the wedding is the appetizer...

So true! Disney even includes a private meal for their brides and grooms before the reception. Right before they walk in, the planners/chefs make the couple a plate of the food they'll have at their reception and they get to enjoy it together before they're announced! Now that's planning!

I have a good feeling it will. I think for her to share that much with me about it means its very very close to being 100%. :yay: :yay: :yay:

Ok I need some opinions... Does this sound weird... My 17 month old is the worlds worst sleeper. She is a light sleeper and often has night terrors. So we are staying in a 3 bed GV at OKW. Original plan was to have MIL, DD3 and DD1 share a room, DH and I have a room, my mom have a room and SIL & BIL will take pull out couch.

Well for the sake of MIL and DD3's well being I do not think having DD1 share a room with them would be wise... My mom will not give up the master suite so that we could put DD1 in Master bath area, and honestly I would like to not share a room with DD1 - every vacation we've had for the past 3 years meant no down time to watch TV, no quiet place for DH and I to talk, and I am grumpy in the morning. I want to drink my first cup of coffee in silence and not talk to anyone until I've finished it. :)

So there is a laundry room, its like 8x8... Would it be wrong to put the pack n play in there? We will obviously have a baby monitor so we can hear her just like at home... Is this crazy??:crazy2:

Not crazy at all. I think of it as a way to make good use of all of your space. Thankfully my son was never a light sleeper. As long as she wouldn't be disturbing anyone else and they won't be disturbing her, I'm all for it. It's not like your putting her out on the balcony!

Time for me to be an enabler!

Saw this on the Theme Park board... This 7 piece set is only $10. A great deal for those looking to pin trade while at WDW.

I just was bad and got 2 shirts (2 for 30), a cute Pluto plush for $5 as an Elf on a Shelf gift to give DD when at WDW, and a cute engagement ornament for our friends who recently got engaged. Was able to combine 3 codes : tshirt deal, Disney visa, and freeshipping (if you buy 1 Disney Park item)

Sweet.

Not crazy. I remember putting one of mine in a pack n play in a large walk-in closet while staying at a friend's beach house. As long as you can hear her and she's safe, I think that's fine.

Can I just do the single digits dance until vacation starts??!!?? :cool1::banana::dance3::jumping1:

We have Roll Callers already in the SINGLE digits? WOW!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hahaha so true! DD3 sleeps like a log- I was so spoiled by her!! The only thing would be that laundry would need to be done during the day- we would also put her in our room for her mid day nap. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being ridiculous.... I have issues- my mom ehh not exactly there in the parent dept so I am always questioning myself because I'm insecure about making my kids feel how I felt growing up... Which in the end makes me

:teeth:

Beat me to the pins! I also got two mini plushes at $5 each.

It took 10+ months, but I finally got answers and a back and forth with the parties that are coming down to Disney. We discussed everything from ADR's, to wake up times, to how late we will stay in the parks. And I got detailed opinions of which rides and characters are a must.

And a big thank you to BDLsgal for bringing in the shopping strategies. I would've completely forgetten about that. :thumbsup2

I just finished Online Check-In!!!!! :yay::banana::woohoo:

That just made it SOOOO much more real! I've been in a bit of denial or something lately, just haven't felt like getting ready or finalizing plans or packing lists or anything. Checking-in definitely does it though!

I was a bit disappointed though, as I see they changed the system and now allow for guests at Saratoga to make requests for which section, close to transportation or pool, which floor, etc. I've already requested the Grandstand section, but thought I'd do it on the online check-in as well as request to be close to the pool again, but there was an error and it says I have to call. So not sure what's going on, but either way doesn't matter to me as the CM already put a note on the ressie when I originally booked.

Either way, I don't care where we end up, I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!! :dance3:

Not at all crazy. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Maybe put up a few cute decorations and play a few games in there with her so she thinks it's a fun place. One time we went to the beach with a bunch of my brother's friends. My sister and I shared the back window (like where the speakers are... this was before seat belt laws). We still laugh about how fun it was. And I know the pain of a bad sleeper. You definitely gotta do what you gotta do with that.

That must have been a huge relief. I wish I could get my group to participate like that.
