I obsess over my google docs spreadsheet! I also made a little excel spreadsheet with estimated meals costs and tips (we're doing the DxDDP, which really forces you to order the most expensive thing on the menu, thus increasing your tip)! Dh and I went through the menus and picked what we thought we would like to eat.....and at R&C he wanted Fish & Chips.....which are $18 for lunch....and I'm like, "that isn't expensive enough"!This is a dumb thought on my part, though......people should order what they want to eat, not necessarily the most expensive thing on the menu! Am I alone with this thought process?
I am the same way. I tried to pick expensive restaurants and will order steak whenever I can. But now trying to lower the tips, I have to think the other way. I figured out which entree we would really eat and added 2 drinks and 2 desserts. I am sure there will be times we drink water with our meal or share 1 dessert because we are full. That will make the tip a little lower, but giving up "free" food will drive me nuts. I just want to have a cost conversation now, so DH can see that it is not that bad and he doesnt try to count every penny while we are down there.
Souvenirs will be a whole other issue.
