Wow I give you credit. I sub teach, but usually I don't stay in the "challenging ones" more than a week before I move on ... Good luck!

It's not my ideal situation, but they're in a pickle, so I said yes. The original TA quit after two days, and they've had a sub ever since. The first long-term sub was a retired gentleman who was great with the kids, but didn't want to have a full-time job again. There is a regular ed TA who wants the job, but HR is resisting hiring a new TA because of budget cuts. Grr. They think we have enough special ed TA's to cover it. Er, no. I told the vp yesterday that I'll be gone a week in December, and she says they hope to have a replacement by then. I don't think she realizes how close December is!

Good morning all!

I've been so busy. I keep telling myself that I am going to try to be more active in this thread to keep up with all the holiday related discussion, but alas, it's proving to be impossible.

Did everyone see the post about the holiday planning guide the DFB is about to release?

I love that blog. :)

I did see about DFB's holiday guide and I'll probably get it once it's released (soooo do not need to add any more snacks into the plan but, as usual, my eyes are bigger than my stomach)

Also......recieved my Mickey Mail yesterday :cool1: So I think I was at 35 days yesterday when it came.

I have a question for POR folks! This is for Terri too as I know she made that beautiful garland! Where in the room should christmas garland be placed? I'm not sure what I'm putting in the window but I'm thinking maybe some garland in the bathroom over the mirrors? So many choices!
!

I haven't really decided. We have a 1BDR so I'm thinking maybe over the patio door or around the table or around the breakfast bar. It kind of depends on where I put the tree. I was thinking on the table but the breakfast bar might be more out of the way. I have 12 feet so I have options. I'll probably just decide when I get there.

And then of course I'll have to move it when we go to AKV.

Just realized I forgot to check the mail yesterday. :(

Anyone else excited that with the 1st MVMCP of the year being tomorrow night, 48 hrs from now, all the pics of this year's MVMCP specific merchandise will be making their rounds?

Just think about it... Shirts, pins, blankets, household items, decorations... AWESOME! :santa:

Anyone decorating their hotel doors? I will be doing it! I been thinking about flying to Orlando, airline tickets I found were pretty cheap, but still little over 200 more than driving, plus then I will have to use the buses with two little ones, my sister just flew out there for Halloween, she said the buses took a while, so how about all ya all who's driving and who's flying?
I'm from Chicago a little suburb outside of Chicago no big difference :)

Why does the DIS app force me to hit return before I can post a new message? If I don't, I end up with a line of text that I can't get back to. Aargh.

Anyway - I need some Disney scrapbooking-related suggestions. DS10's teachers want him to keep a journal for his trip and do a presentation when he gets back. So I figured I'd get a journaling app so that he could write and take pictures in the park while we're in line or in restaurants or whatever. But DS had other ideas. He wants to do a Smash book type journal. (he did one last summer for a class at BigPicture.) But Im worried he won't have time (or focus) most days to sit down and write. So we compromised.

Now I have to find a) an app that will allow printing and sufficient formatting to paste the typed journaling into the book and (b) a journal. I'm leaning against a Smash book because the pages aren't lined and they don't really come in Disney colors. But I don't know. Maybe I should get a plain lined journal and let him decorate with my Disney paper and stickers. Or maybe I should get a Smash book and print a stack of lined pages to paste in and just ignore the color scheme. I don't really want to make my own book from scratch.I figure we'll just use a store-bought journal if some kind and fill out the pages in order and then use the remainder for future trips.

So any suggestions on iPhone apps, Smash book alternatives and also travel journaling prompts would be most appreciated. Also suggestions about why Im probably over thinking this and how I could make it simpler would not go amiss. ;)

On the plus side I already have a ton of Disney paper supplies and a tiny Polaroid printer that prints sticker pictures. So that will help. Though it just occurred to me that we might end up fighting over ephemera since I do Project Life. ;)

People do this less in Deluxes but I'm still planning to put up some kind of sign with our names on it. I was thinking I'd like to make a wreath design with leaves but flat. But I need to finish some of my other projects first.

I did buy some command strips though so I can put things up without tape.

Hmmm...I'll think a bit about this. First thing that came to mind is the Fancy Pants Brag Books from a year or so ago. I know that they come with more lined paper, but it might be too big or not themed well for Disney. What made me think of it, though, was watching this youtube video of a woman using it to document her trip :

Or how about using one of the new Simple Stories Sn@p binders and doing something a la project life. Make some journaling cards ahead of time that would be easy for your son to carry with him in the parks to jot stuff down on. Then he could put the journaling cards together, add in some ephemera and pictures and embellish if he wanted.

Not sure about iphone apps, though. I've just used evernote to jot down reminders from my travels.
