PART FOUR!! *December 2012 Roll Call* Holidays, FLE & MVMCP!! A very, merry thread!

Exactly one week from today we'll be taking off from BWI. Yay!

I have to say, I think I'm beyond the panic stage now. I have a plan. Tomorrow I will cancel all the Plan A components. Most of the creative work is done. Laundry is caught up and packing is started. Most of my Christmas shopping is done too.

And it's a pretty slow week. Just work and school. No extra activities or appointments. And I have all of next weekend to finish last minute stuff. So no late nights to try to get everything done.

I think I can breathe now. :)

I am jealous of those of you there on Dec 6th. Look at all the merch available on that day. I want that EAR HAT!!! They will LONG be sold out by the time I get there the next week.

THREE WEEKS from today we'll be on the ME bus heading to WL! Just over two weeks until I'm done with my first semester of grad school-then only seven more semesters to go. :rotfl:

How nice of them to offer! Is it an actual possibility that they could or was it just in jest? Hope you find out tomorrow! ::yes::

It really is a possibility. My BIL has said he is coming with us for a month or two now. He is a commando/schedule-keeper/rope-dropper. His wife and daughter are more of the "Sleep till 10 and then swim and eat lunch and get to the park at 1, and wonder why the lines are really long. " So he had a very frustrating trip in June (their third, so you would think he would know by now, but anyway). He has had several interviews lately and is hoping for a new job offer this week, so if he could time his start date right, he just might go with us. The nephew is 12 and also loves Disney. I would take him in a heartbeat without BIL and my SIL said she didnt have an issue with him missing school. In fact, we were talking about it so much, DH said, wait a minute, I am still going if at all possible. :goodvibes

I don't really like the shirts. But DS might like the Pin Party. I'm encouraging him to collect for fun rather than rarity. But having a limited edition set to commemorate this might be fun.

Anyone planning a late start to AK? It's an option for us if we need it. The thought of not being there for RD scares me but I get cranky when I'm tired :rotfl:

Only 1000? They will be gone by lunch.

Is it just me or does Belle look really weird on the phone case? I had to read to see who it was. And why is she smelling the rose????

Our rule is: Thanksgiving has to be over.

Within a couple of days after...we deck the halls, inside and out.
This year, the outside was done on Friday (because it was warm!).
Inside was done Saturday.

This is our usual rule too. Now, this year is a little bit off because it was 70 the day before Thanksgiving and COLD the rest of the week, so I went ahead and put up the outside lights before Thanksgiving. The tree will get put up at the last minute this year due to the baby puppy dog.

I had the same problem 6 years ago with the pressure on the plane ride home. I was fine with take off from NY and landing in FL as well as taking off from FL. But once we started to get closer to NY, the pressure was just too much for me and I was in excrutiating pain that I had tears coming down my face. The pain lasted for about 1-2 weeks before everything returned to normal.

This time I'm not taking any chances with my seasonal allergies and sinus issues. I've read about Earplanes on several threads and forums on these boards and went out and bought them last week at my local Rite Aid. The cost was $8 and change for just one box of 2 and can only be used for one round-trip flight. A bit pricey IMO and I hope worth it.

I've also got my Vick's Sinex nasal spray to use to help with my sinuses right before we go. Because I get sinus headaches due to pressure changes with the seasons (summer to fall and winter to spring) I will have my Excedrin with me as well.

I get horrid sinus headaches due to pressure changes and my ENT told me to do 2 sprays of Afrin in each nostril on takeoff and landing and boy has that worked wonders with making flights more comfortable!

My partner and I were actually talking about a possible Disneyland trip next year. It looks pretty affordable for 4 days/3 nights staying at one of the good neighbor hotels across the stress. We might have a Disney trip next year after all.

We did this for Sissy's 30th Birthday back in April. Worked out to be about $500 per person, which included 3 nights at the hotel, park passes, air and RT transportation to/from the airport. We stayed in the Best Western Park Place Inn & Suites and it was fantastic. BIG, newly updated rooms and literally right across the street from the main entrance to the parks.

Fantastic! I feel pretty out of my depth when trying to figure the Disneyland stuff out. Do you have any hints on where to find deals/promotions or sites/blogs to follow?

I have no idea what to buy DBF for xmas. Anything he wants he buys himself. I did promise him 2 new shirts while we are at Disney. He loves the Hawaiian shirts at the Poly.

I'm considering an external battery pack for when we are out and his battery is going low.

But I'm really at a loss. He does so much for me..

Hmmm what does he like to do? Maybe not a traditional gift but a surprise date day with all his favorites included?

DL isn't nearly as complicated as a trip to WDW. It drove me BONKERS because it was entirely too easy to plan :rotfl:

I found the best deal on the hotel by far from booking directly through Best Western. You do want to price out booking everything separately vs. booking a package deal for air/hotel. Also, check Costco and AAA for travel packages or deals on tickets if you are a member, sometimes they have really good deals for DL. Super Shuttle had by far the cheapest rate to get to/from the airport, especially if you use the coupon code they always have in the Entertainment books.

We live in KC, so are on Central time. By taking a 6 am flight and factoring in the time change (back 2 hours) we were able to get checked into the hotel and to the park gates by 10:30 in the morning, so you can get an entire extra park day in without adding an extra night at the hotel if you're willing to get up early and sleep on the plane.

The DL forum here has a ton of wonderful information, and everything I couldn't figure out from the info here I found on Touring Plans.

Oh, and avoid weekends if at all possible. The Thurs and Fri we were there the place was virtually deserted, but the Sat. was wall to wall people with insane waits for everything by 10:30 in the morning!

Ok *frantically swishes around in the drawer full of crayons, stickers & silly bands desperate for a real grown up writing implement!!*

I'm making a list to work out who is going first ... so far cybrkitn is in first place *the crowds roars* .... not sure what the prize is yet :scratchin

cybrkitn 29 Nov 09.10am EST

I'm still trying to catch up on all these pages - gone for a few days and DANG did I miss a lot!

We leave SAT.UR.DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :faint: but I wasn't on the list of roll-callers... so, I hope that's not someone's way of telling me I'm not going afterall?? :confused3

ok, back to reading!

I think the only reason we are going on the 6th is so I can buy stuff!!! :hyper:

Thank you so much! We were thinking of going Tuesday through Friday. Since we'll be paying for transportation to the hotel from the airport, we definitely want a place that is across the street from the parks. I am totally copying your post and putting it with my DL stuff.

Josh from easywdw.com always raves about having a late day at AK. He says to get there around the time of the parade. That is when most people leave, and you will find minimal waits on rides etc till closing.

The DIS DL boards are a great source of info. The DLR hotels can be quite pricey. There aren't as good of deals as there are at WDW. But there are good neighbor hotels that partner with Disney so you can get packages and so forth. I stayed at the Candy Cane Inn which is right next door to CarsLand. It was an easy walk. It was a nice motel. People also rave about the HoJos right across the street. (I grew up with DL because I lived in LA). It was funny to suddenly be a true tourist and stay near DL. You can do it all in 3 days. If you have time, check out Knotts or Universal hollywood and give time to enjoy Los Angeles!

Haven't finished catching up yet but wanted to post that the Terrace Dessert Party currently has available 8:50pm on Dec. 2 (I was searching for 2 people) but don't know if for how many but for at least 2!

I've been looking forever for opening from Dec. 1-4 and this just showed up about 10 minutes ago! I'm not taking it but wanted to share with my peeps! :thumbsup2

Hope someone can use it!
