Back in the room with all the DD's... Time to give DD2 her bath and a bottle before bed. She is all snug as a bug in her crib and I am lying on the bed next to her, when I hear that unmistakable tummy rumble that means "LOOK OUT! She's going to BLOW!" :scared1: ARRRGGH! Poor tyke has thrown up all over her bedding and jammies. I am contorting into shapes which will throw my body into an upright position without damaging any body parts... flipping anything that resembles a light switch to get a little light on the subject! YEECCCH! Too bad it's Strawberry instead of Vanilla Pediasure! I grab a towel and attempt to wipe her down. I strip off her clothes, diaper, everything and put her back into a warm tub. We use a special mat in the tub with a pillow to keep her head raised out of the water. DD9 is in there with me and I ask her to watch her while I call Mousekeeping for more towels and crib bedding. After dialing but before someone answers, DD9 runs out of the bathroom and says she is throwing up again through her nose! Poor girl... I throw down the phone pull her out of the tub and clean her face up so she can breathe!

:worried: I call 911! In the midst of her throwing up she rolled over in the tub and I wanted her checked to make sure she had not aspirated any vomit or water...

Well, not only did I get the Paramedics, I got Mousekeeping, Security, Disney Management and the POLICE! OH, BOY! I don't know if they thought they had a drowning on their hands or what??

At this point, being unsure what caused her to throw up since she did not look or "act" sick and had no fever... I had just about decided not to transport her to the Emergency Room by the Rescue Squad when she stiffened up and went into Spray Paint mode (projectile vomiting, for non-parents). HOO BOY! So I tell the guys, "LET's GO!" I look like a keystone cop running around putting on shoes, looking for purse, diaper bag, cell phone etc... DH is still not here so I have to go it alone to the hospital. The wonderful Security team at the Poly promised to keep a check on DD15 and DD9 so I could ride with DD2. By now it is around 10 PM or so.

Nothing is more pitiful looking than a 2 year old strapped on one of those portable stretchers and being rolled down the paths of the POLY to a waiting ambulance. She looked so small! I must applaud the kind attention and expert care given to her by all of the technicians and paramedics. It takes a special kind of people to do this for a living... While riding to Celebration hospital they pulled out a brand new plush 101 Dalmation Dog and gave it to her to keep. The tag on his collar read "Oddball"! Celebration did not want to let us come to their hospital due to overflow crowds, but no other hospital was any better and the tech insisted we could not drive her across town. So, to Celebration we went!

I think one of the things I was expecting when we arrived was that:
a) the Paramedics would stay with me and hold my hand or at least my stuff! (Wow! What sitcom was I dreaming in?)
b) We would see the Dr. that same day... :rotfl:
c) Most of the people in the waiting room were not sick, they were just there to visit sick people!

Coming back to reality now... as this has been an unreal day and I know you would expect me to take leave of my senses ever so briefly! :hyper:

What reality was:
a) The Paramedics picked my daughter up from the gurney and handed her to me as they gently pushed me into the Emergency Room Waiting area and turned me over to the front desk, where they gave me additional things to hold!
b) Acute Area Wait time was 12 hrs to see the DR. :faint:
c) MOST of the people there were REALLY SICK, SICK, SICK! :crazy2:

Here I must admit, I am a "Waiting Room Novice". Any other time I have had to go to the ER, we were rushed right in... HOW DO PEOPLE DO IT? I was trying to hold her, my purse, her diaper bag, a clipboard to fill out information and keep a mask over her face. Just as I getting my juggling act balanced... CAN YOU GUESS? :Pinkbounc She throws up again! I have a whole new concept of that term "PRETTY IN PINK!" Here I must stop once again and THANK all other people near me who took pity on my situation and helped me get her cleaned up! These people were SICK, yet they were so concerned and caring about how sick SHE was!:grouphug: One of these wonderful women looked SOOO familiar! I finally realized I had MET her on my LAST trip to WDW back in November with DD2 and my parents. I had visited with her and her son (who is a CM) while waiting for the start of the "British Invasion" show in England at EPCOT! WOW! Talk about a small world! :happy1:

After receiving the news that we would have to stake out our own little section of "Camp Celebration" in order to be seen by a DR, I say "Thanks for your hospitality, but...UH...NO, THANKS!" I immediately called my Pediatrician for guidance and thankfully my DH was now in Orlando and on his way. I was able to get her checked by a triage nurse before heading for the horizon. Her oxygen sat levels looked good and she concurred about the potential for more severe infection by sitting that long in the Emergency Waiting Room.

It is Midnight:30 when our Prince pulls up in our chariot. I wave to the room and say "HASTA LA VISTA BABY!" :moped: Being as it was after Midnight, I had turned back into a Pumpkin... but, frankly? At this point, I didn't GIVE A HOOT! We were heading home to the POLY! YAY!"
 That is we WOULD BE GOING... AFTER our MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT PHARMACY SAFARI!

WOW what an ordeal! My hat goes off to you! you held it together as best you could....well was it just a 24hr bug? I hope that she got to see MICKEY! Thanks for the report. Hope everything is all better!

I'll continue on with the story tomorrow! Essentially she is just now getting over the flu bug...
Thanks for asking and everyone's concern.. I had to add this day in order for the rest of the trip report to make any sense! Otherwise, I would just try to "forget it"!

So sorry that your daughter was ill.
