Day 3 - Jan 27th

CAST:
Me - Melissa age 25 SAHM
Lane - age 28 hubby

Mickey woke us up at 7am again and we packed up to drive over to Wilderness Lodge. On our way out, we noticed a room window with stuffed animals and a card that said Happy Anniversary on it. AYE, nothing like putting it in our faces!

Anyway, got over to WL and upon check in found out there computer systems were completely down. They still insisted on checking us in anyway, but had no info on us at all. They asked us what view we booked under and I said standard and they just shoved us in whatever room was available in that category. This really truely upset me because I had spent all the time sending the request and talked to a really nice room controller lady who kenw it was going to be our anniversary and put some really nice notes in our ressie. So upon check in, it was mentioned it was our anniversary and the lady wrote it down on paper, even asked which anniversary it was. They couldn't issue real keys but were issuing blank white keys that you couldn't charge one. They said to come back for real keys in a few hours.

Anyway, we check into our room, 5098 at the end of the main building on South side overlooking every roof possible. NO VIEW at all! We were quite a long walk from the boats (my first request) and the food court but at least we were close to the buses.

Then we headed out to Animal Kingdom. Didn't wait long at all for a bus. Got there about 9:30ish and there weren't many people waiting to get in. Headed over to the Lion King and were first in line for that so got good seats. I LOVE that show! That and Tarzan are my 2 fav things to do at Disney. It was so funny, the main singer guy was coming over to shake our hands and I had been trying to get a picture and snapped that darn thing right in his face. He was so caught off guard by it and the look on his face was priceless, i was so embarrassed but he was laughing and hugged me.

We then headed over to Tarzan, those first 2 shows really work out well if wanting to catch both. It's fun to see those shows, usually 2 or 3 of them are the same from the last time. Tarzan has ALWAYS been the same guy and even hubby knows I have a huge crush on him....lol. WHOO HOO, he's so build and handsome. So after I got my jollies, we went over to the new Dinosaur area. We got a fastpass for Primitive Whirl. It was about 11:15 at this point and went over to Dinosaurous resturant (or whatever that is) to eat. It didn't open until 11:30 and we were in. We knew we wanted to do the meal plus option but was unhappy to see that they took the ribs off the menu. So we got hamburgers and fries and had the coupons for cokes and popcorn later. YUMM!

When we got back to Primitive Whirl, there was NO line or need for the FP. We'd never been on this before and we really thought it was way to cute!!!! It was spinny but it was a smooth ride...hubby and I laughed the whole way down. There was still no line so we went on again.

Then for hubby's sake we went over to Dinosaur. I HATE this ride but tolerate it for hubby's sake. We don't usually get to go on since we have the kids, but he usually goes on himself. Let me tell you, I don't remember HOW much I hate it until I am on it. I don't mind the "ride" part but I don't like the loud noises and dinos jumping out at me and in the dark. I had tears coming out of my eyes!!!!! By the way, walked right on this ride too...

Walked into Tough to Be a Bug which is cute but let me tell you, if you are going to be the host castmember for an attraction, you can only hope you can understand a word they say. He was the nicest little older man but his accent was so thick that people were actually laughing their butts off because you could not understand a WORD he said. I have to admit, it WAS funny.

On the hike over to the Safari, we ran into Devine. I had never seen her before, she is really neat!!!! We walked onto the Safari and saw quite a few animals. There was the silliest Rhino who would NOT move outta the road so we sat there for a few minutes.

After the Safari we got our popcorn and soda and went back to the hotel. Hubby went downstairs to get the real keys and came back, the computers weren't up yet. He had asked about getting a room closer to our requests and they said they couldn't do room changes until the computers were up. While we were resting, the phone rang and it was the front desk asking exactly which requests we wanted and they said they'd work on it.

After about an hour we were heading out to meet our friend who lives in Orlando. Checked again on new room and keys and computer STILL wasn't up at 6:30pm. We were supposed to meet Miles, our friend at 7pm in front of Planet Hollywood but nothing on the menu appeased me so we called his cell and told him to meet us at the Beach Club to eat at beaches and cream since we had one more voucher. We got on a bus to Beach Club and were the only ones on there and we got such a huge kick out of the bus driver. He was an older man who had retired and moved to Fl in Oct with his woman friend who he promised could retire if she moved with him. So he took a job at Disney for the insurance. He then went on to say he was paying for her insurance too which Disney didn't cover because they weren't married. So he said he told her what the heck, let's get married. So they are getting married on Feb 14th....it was such a sweet story...coming from a 75 year old man. We had such a nice conversation, got off the bus and wished him luck.

Miles got lost finding the Beach Club but he made it there, had about a 10 minute wait at Beaches and Cream and had a delicious meal. Lane and I shared a tripple scoop sundae, yum! We were going to go over to the Boardwalk but were so full we just went back to the room. We got back about 9:45pm.

Next: Day 4 MGM Studios

but I do it each time we are there....first time I was black and blue...and whiplash too.......thanks so much for your great reports

I think that Tarzan Rocks could use a little less rock and a lot more Tarzan ;) I agree with you, he's a hunk.

I enjoyed reading about your day. I'm sorry you were disappointed with your room view :(

Thanks for taking the time to post this.

What a bummer about the computers being down. There was a posting here on the boards that no one could make ressies then, either. It's always tough when you plan and hope everything goes perfect and then something like the computers go down to try and spoil your time. Glad you didn't let it!
