We returned a few days ago from WDW where we got engaged. I had found some helpful information on this forum. :)

We have been together for over four years. For the last two years she has wanted to get married, but for various reasons I have been quite resistant to it (the issues were mostly mine, not her's).

About 8 months ago my feelings about it started to change. About four months ago we booked a trip to WDW for the two of us and my son. After booking the trip I came to realize that she was definitely the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with so I started to plan my surprise engagement to her. I could not think of a better place than the MK to do this.

I heard of Cinderella's Royal Table inside of the castle, but I also heard reservations were very hard to get. I called on the chance they had something available and lo and behold they had one for 9:35 on the night we arrived. PERFECT!

I booked the reservation and then spoke with an event planner for the engagement package. They set up dinner and the ring presentation which would be in an engraved glass slipper on a dessert tray. The only downside to it all was I was told the windows would be covered due to some renovation that was going on.

We arrived to WDW earlier in the day and got settled in. I told her we were heading for the MK that evening and that it was her evening to do Cinderella type stuff. I had brought with three $1 coins for each of us for the wishing well.

We stopped off at the wishing well during the evening and each of us made our three wishes. I just KNEW one of her wishes would be for me to ask her to marry her.

Late in the evening I surprised her with where we were going to eat. She had her picture take with Cinderella. I told her that part of the dinner included a photographer stopping by to take more pictures (that way she would not wonder why he would show up at the table later).

We were seated at a table by the window. Much to our delight, the windows had been uncovered that night for the first time in seven months so we were able to watch the fireworks right outside of the window. It was shaping up to be a magical night!

During dinner the characters came out and she and my son had their pictures taken with several of them. I excused myself to go to the restroom and met the manager to give her the ring for the presentation after we ate.

After dinner the sever arrived with the covered white plate. There were rose petals on the plate and under the cover was the engraved slipper. I had our names and the date engraved on one side of it. Knowing she would wish for me to ask her to marry her at some point in life I also had, "Wishes Do Come True" engraved on the other side.

I spoke to her a bit about our life together and then took off the cover. There was the glass slipper with the ring inside of it wrapped around some rose petals. She was stunned and for the first time in over four years she was actually speechless!

I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. After a bit of shock and some tears she said of course she would. My son had told me a few times he wished that I would marry her and he too was very happy.

It turned out to be a PERFECT evening and the entire eight day vacation was by far the best I have even had. We are planning on returning in May of 2012 for our wedding at WDW.

I will try to post a pic or two in the coming days.

Stay tuned for Part 2: The Planning...(which I may need some DIS advice for :) ).

Congratulations! Sounds so perfect! Very romantic! I am looking forward to hearing more of your plans :)
