Parrotheads check in here

Does it count that I saw him on the "Today" show last friday??

He's not coming nearby here anytime soon. Unfortunately.

Fins to the right.......................

We can never get tickets here in MA:( I have seen him in St. Louis while visiting my aunt there. It was a lot of fun but right after the awful floods there so lots of bugs! I really want to see Jimmy in Miami or Key West! Maybe when we move to Fl! :sunny:

I lived in Cincinnati where the Parrot Heads were born! He use to be in Cinci every year for a concert. I love his music!

We saw the guy on the stretcher too, you must have been just down the hill from us- we were on the left side looking at the stage, right by one of the speaker poles. It was probably alcohol poisoning or a drug OD, unfortunately, he looked pretty young and he wasn't concious :(
It has never been that bad before. Yes, every year you get some folks, mostly young ones, who don't understand the parrothead concept and are just there for the party, but this year it was EXTREME. I have no problems with anyone drinking and having a good time, but drinking so much you are puking in the parking lot by 3, when they didn't even open until noon? I saw 2 guys DRAG their passed out friend up the hill and dump him on the ground- waste of a ticket, that. As we were leaving one girl was bragging how she got kicked out for a counterfeit ticket, but climbed the fence to get in, cutting her hand in the process. And the drunk woman (no girl, she had to be in her forties) who fell down in front of my DH and tried to stick her hand up the leg of his shorts not once but twice! It was so bad that my BIL and SIL left after intermission, she is 7 weeks pg and didn't want to risk having someone fall on her or hit her- the fight was going on right about then.
We are seriously considering NOT going next year, just hanging out at someone's house and listening to the concert on Radio Margaritaville- they broadcast all Jimmy's concerts live.

Count me in!! Saw him for the first time about 16 years ago, and since then it gets harder and harder to get tickets. We also noticed how nasty some of the fans are getting, so we don't go anymore.

He is just such a cool guy!! One year we had a ParrotHead party the night of the concert, so we wouldn't miss out!!

B-U-F-F-E-T-T!!!

Jimmy and the band were in top form, probably the best show I've seen since the Domino College Tour (96? 97?). The cover of Scarlet Begonias was excellent. Loved the encore with Jimmy and Amy Lee on Pirate Looks at Forty, and the energy of the crowd was outstanding (at least those of us who knew more than Songs you Know by Heart and 5 O'clock Somewhere ;) ).
We had 3 people online with Ticketmaster, and 2 waiting in line at the Tweeter, and still only got 8 tickets. Just not worth it for what we had to put up with.

Will be seeing him for the first time in less than 48 hrs! He is at the Nissan Pavillion in Virginia. I have been trying for several years to get tickets and was finally able to this year. My sob story- last year I got Orchestra section tickets (right up front) but you only had 1 min 10 seconds to confirm order and I had dial-up service at the time and lost the tickets! By the time I got back on-line ALL the tickets were sold out. That really sucked. Needless to say I got a cable modem right after that.

Beth, so sorry you went through all that, I hope you go next time and have a better experience.

BigKidz, please post a "concert report"!!

I've been a parrothead since 1974! (showing my age here... :) ) Have seen the Captain in concert many times and even met him once.

But I have become an old fart. We saw him down in Mansfield a couple years back and that was our last. Took us over 2 hours just to get out of the parking lot to get home. And at the concert EVERYONE stood up the entire time. The "kids' behind us sang EVERY word to EVERY song as they were swinging their beers back and forth and drenching us. While Jimmy was very good and I can see how some would find the whole atmosphere to be fun, we mostly found it to be annoying. :) Tickets were not cheap either...and I hated that they added seats to the lawn area just so they could charge more.

I prefer to enjoy Jimmy at home now. :)

Hope all of you who are going have a great time!!!

Jill

Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago, and I had a cable modem. I type too slow sometimes.

I have taken DS11, who loves Jimmy Buffet, but we haven't been in a couple of years. He sells out so fast, and we always seem to have a Tae Kwon Do exam or competion for DS when tickets go on sale. It was pouring down rain when we went and the parking lot was like a river. I was glad we were sitting inside. I would love to go back and see him soon and take DS, I think he will enjoy it even more now that he is older. I just worry about all the too drunk idiots and their behavior when I have him.

One of our groups was going to bring his 11 YO daughter to the show, she's been begging for years to go. He changed his mind the night before, and it was a good thing too- the things that poor child would have seen!
We had a torrential downpour/thunderstorm 2 years ago I think? Best behaved crowd ever! All the partiers left, and just the parrotheads stayed. It was a blast, and Jimmy didn't even take his usual intermission break- he said if we had to stand in the rain, he could play on stage.
We've always had fun before, but this year was just too much. I think if we take a year off we will regain our enthusiasm- that is if Jimmy is still touring 2 years from now.

Been to a few....they do get ummmm.....a bit more like spring break every time ( if you know what I mean.) Gotta love the life the man leads. Not that he didn't pay his dues when he was younger. It's an escape from the reality of life to listen to JB. HE MAKES ME HAPPY!:sunny:

If you like Jimmy Buffett, you HAVE to go to a concert. People of all ages go, but I fit into the middle class middle age group of people that let loose for a day. You have to go early and walk around the parking lot. We say that every year and never do, and this year we found a friend with a trailer and got there early. It was a sight to be seen.

The concert was so awesome!! I'm still euphoric (or is that the contact buzz....) Yes there are a lot of drunks, and people smoking pot right out in the open, but it was just a huge beach party! We had a blast and are definitely going next year. The tailgating was amazing, we were so unprepared but will know next time. I just can't put to words how much fun we had (and sober too, my husband and I don't drink, my friend on the other hand was a little tipsy). This is something every Buffett fan needs to experience.
