I am always amazed how close the states are on the east coast. It takes us 13 hours to go from our house in the Central Valley to my sisters house in Central Washington, 2 states.

That's true. When I drive up to CT to see Frank, I drive through 3 states in 1.5 hours.

13 hours! how much of that is made up of rest stops?

You're going to need the cruise by the time you've driven that.

It is 723 miles or so, so that is about 10 or 11 hours, our goal will be to get through Atlanta before too late, which should help.

We drove over 5000 miles on a road trip this summer, so this is easy peasy!

It all depends on the direction. Our 723 miles will only involve Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida, and we could easily go another 3-4 hours in Florida before running out of land.

But you are correct, the Eastern Seaboard, all of the states run East to West, so traveling North to South you can pass through most of them quite quickly.
