Parks more crowded than years past?

We were at Disney World between Sept 22-30 this year. Previously, we had stayed at Disney World September 21-28 in 2010 and found a noticeable increase in the crowds.

We're thinking of a first trip to Universal/IOA and Seaworld in 2013 and so we're wondering if the trend towards an increase in crowds during the typical "slow" season was universally applied over all parks in Orlando or if it's a "Disney thing?" (i.e. a result of their scheduled events, promotions, etc.)

Can anyone offer any input? Thanks in advance!

Hi: I agree with you that the parks seem busier during the "slow season." We were there Sept 12-21 and some days were much busier than we had anticipated. I think that people are taking advantage of "free dining" and other promotional deals. I also think that parents are more willing to take their kids out of school in order to capture these deals. Disney doesn't want a slow time and their promotions seem to be working.

Yes, it's very much true.. Disney has doubled down on free dining and room discounts.. With very little exception, there is no 'slow' season anymore..

The slow season at Universal is still pretty slow, you just have to go at the right time. The end of September is usually a great time to visit.

Right...until HP2 opens then there will be no more slow season...kinda like at WDW. ;)
