Looks like rain in the forecast first part of our trip. :( Rather than hiding in the room, I'm thinking putting on our rain coats and hitting a park is a good idea, as lines will be much shorter. Plus I want to head to the beach and waterparks on our sunny days!

From what I read, it looks like there's a lot of indoor simulator rides that can be done. What do you think? Is there a better park to do in the rain? We have 3 day park to park tickets so doing one day in the rain (as long as it's not a torrential downpour..) won't be too bad, I don't think.

Either park will work. I normally bring a golf umbrella instead of ponchos, they get so damn hot after a while. Be a kid again and have fun playing in the rain, you are not going to melt, right? If you are staying on property you can head back to you room and change. If not bring some extra clothes and store them in a locker. As long as it is not lightening have some fun with it.

Our first trip to Universal Orlando, there was rain every day. Not 'normal' 'it's Florida' rain, but prolonged light showers and one day of downpours. It was the best theme park trip we've done - short lines (FJ was a walk-on), light crowds, easy to find a table for meals. As long as it isn't raining cats and dogs, it can be a great time to do the parks.

Yea, just throw a poncho on and you are all set. Or just a hat and rain jacket. An umbrella is just too big and clumsy especially when you are waiting in line. Can't tell you how many times I've been hit with umbrellas.

Some of the best theme park visits have been in the rain (as long as they don't stop the rides).
enjoy

When there is lightning they close down the outdoor rides (Hulk, RRR, water rides, etc) but keep the indoor rides doing.

Last year in June we went into IOA around 6pm (raining) and the queue for Forbidden Journey was only about 20 minutes.

I was at US/IOA last Saturday and it started pouring around 8.30pm or so. I ducked into Disaster (it was a Disaster as ride broke and got evacuated, waste of time really), but then went onto the Hogwarts Express from King's Cross around 9.30pm and it was a walk on. Then went on Forbidden Journey and it was a walk on too - when I got off I asked if I could re-ride (no one in line) and they said sure! Combination of rain and late night I guess meant that no one was around!

Definitely grateful that I had a poncho on both occasions!

I'm going to agree with everyone else. Either park, or both parks will be fine in the rain. USF might be a little bit better for a rainy day. But I would probably park hop and hit the indoor rides at both parks then park hop again when it's dry to ride the outdoor rides.

You can have a blast in the rain. My only caveat would be take cover if it starts lightning.

i don't let the rain stop me from doing the parks or anywhere in when at the darkside

i put on a rain poncho, have a mini umbrella that collapses and wear my teva strapped sandals and hit the parks.

We spent a rainy day at Islands of Adventure last year. It was great. We wore ponchos. It was Spring Break and we practically had the park to ourselves. My boys rode the popular rides at least 5 times each. We were wishing for rain when we were there last month!

rainy days in the parks lowers the crowd levels.

go prepared and have no waits in the lines for rides/shows.

Where are these lockers you are talking about?

Our first night at US/IoA was rainy (a steady light rain) and it was fabulous! No lines, we got on so many great rides several times. Definitely do it!

family lockers are in the front of the park.
near the inside guest service area.

family lockers are largeer than the ride lockers.
the fee you pay for them allow you to open and close and keep using them all day long.
one fee covers the enitire tie you are in the park.
