Hi folks! I just stumbled on this thread.
It's nice to see you guys doing something more with the spirit of the thread. I have a couple comments off the top of my head, if y'all don't mind. Pardon me if you've already talked about it, I didn't read through the whole thread.
Are you aware that there is a website dedicated entirely to park trivia? I ran into it last week while trying to verify one of my questions. In fact, LOL, I think some players on the thread have borrowed some of the questions I saw there....verbatim. The site is here:
www.wdwtrivia.com
Distriv, this isn't your site, is it? I thought I saw an email or host named "distriv" associated with them. OF course...it's a pretty common name to use if you're into Disney Trivia lol. Anyway this site's existence is something to be aware of for good or bad.
Also, if you DO include questions directly from the thread, you might want to carefully verify the answers we've all provided. I'm pretty sure there's a percentage that are just flat out wrong. Even one's that were pulled from other sources on the net. More than once I've seen incorrect information out there. And I've also noticed that many of the sites "borrow" their facts from each other and have seen the same wrong information propagate across several of them.
You might want to consider bolstering some of the good questions from the thread with ones you derive first hand during park visits etc. It might even be cool for you guys to schedule a group trip for some question finding. eh?
Did you also know that Disney has their own series of trivia books? I have the first one, that deals mostly with Disney movies and characters, but there are "park" sections. I think they have published a few more since then and I bet the park sections have grown. So for one things, I would play the "we want to publish a Trivia Book" down, when talking with Disney. You don't want 'em getting nervous dat you're trying to steal their bidness. Also Disney actually has a couple ppl (and probably a whole department of ppl) they call "archivists" that have access to tons of facts, figures, dates and stuff. I know there was a guy...umm...Dave something (he's the author of the trivia books) who would regularly answer trivia sent into him in the Disney Magazine. This could also be a source of some info.
Also have you considered doing periodical publications instead of one big book? I guess it all depends on how you want to target your audience.
umm...one last thought....don't pass of the easy softballs as not worth including in the book. I think they are often more enjoyable for the audence and more fun to for people to try to verify on a trip than the "how many lbs of concrete were used to build the section of World Showcase between France and Morocco"....if you know what I mean.
Anyway, it's nice to see you guys taking the thread to the next level!! I just wanted to throw in my thoughts.
Good Luck CCers!!
