Parks Game! Part 4: Let's Play Some More!!

{tap}{tap}{tap} Is this thing on?

Where did everybody go? I may have to borrow from a future AAQ and ask a question if things don't liven up here.

Sandy....here's a small stack of AAQ's....feel free to toss a question out there anytime there are no open questions, or if there is one that's been sitting for a while waiting confirmation.

I'm sure that PG Emperor Higgs wouldn't mind that at all.....and now that he travels in an invisibility cloak instead of a Black Monorail, he is really sneaky!! :p

MrsP....nice to see you here....but you're a CC family member, not a "special guest"! (though we do think you're special):)

First of all....:bounce: Welcome carpedm :bounce:

And you got a most of the rankings I am looking for....

0-1,000 - Star Cadet - HZ16
1,001-10,000 - Space Scout - carpedm
10,001-100,000 - Ranger 1st Class - carpedm
100,001-300,000 - Planetary Pilot - carpedm
300,001-600,000 - Space Ace - HZ16

999,999 - Galatic Hero - HZ16

Intergalactic AAQ cards to Horizons16 and carpedm :bounce:

And carpedm.... since you answered a question correctly, you now can turn in your AAQ (Ask A Question) card and ask one of your own. We only ask that you do so when you are able to check back in regularly to confirm answers so that the game moves along :). And please put the question in bold so all of the players can find it easily.

:smooth:

ps...gometros.... please use one of my many AAQ cards... I'm not yet upto posting too often. Throw one out there :)

Good morning everyone. Here's one to start the day with...

Category: Animation History

What Disney/MGM Studios structure is a homage to one of the pioneers of animation (pre-Walt Disney)? Name the structure and it's significance.

Have fun...

Seize the day:)

Im going to say the chinease theater... It was ming or something like that. He did a lot of stuff for early stars i dunno am i even close?
If by any chance i get an aaq give it to someone else.
~Steve

Good morning all.
Is it Dinosaur Gertie's Ice Cream of Extinction.

/
jwill- You are correct; Gerties Ice Cream stand. Good job.

Anyone know the answer to the second part of the question- what is the significance of Gertie the Dinosaur?

Good morning everyone!

I think the significance of Gertie is that Dino Gertie, it seems, was one of the first successful attempts at animation. According to Richard Schickel's excellent book, The Disney Version , Winsor McCay created Gertie for vaudeville some time between 1903 and 1913. Gertie was projected on a screen on stage and McCay made it appear she was following her instructions

Gee, and that was just off of the top of my mouse!! ;)

jwill....did you bring any breakfast? And where is the Wench with the drinks??

Good morning to all!!!

Cool question on Gertie...I vaguely remember hearing about this a while back but would never have gotten it.

Do we have any outstanding questions?

While waiting for food and drinks, I'll toss this one out there:

In MGM, there is a replica of a New York theatre. What is the name of that theatre and its significance to Disney?

Okay, I'm heading over to Boardwalk Bakery for some breakfast...be back soon!

Good job Granny.

While Gertie was not the first animated character, she was certainly one of the first popular animated characters and really a watershed moment in animation history.

Now I better get back to answering questions...

Granny - Would that be the Carthay Circle on Sunset Blvd? That was the theater Snow White premired at.

I'm crazy busy, but trying not to just be a lurker. :)

Hi Carpedm! Gee - that's 2 Carpe's now. :)

-Kim

Granny- is it the Cathay Circle theatre, which hosted the premiere of Snow White?

Granny.... Are you looking for the Carthay Theatre, which is where Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered?

Pssstttt.... There is some coffee in the magic thermos, would you pass me a DCoke from the magic cooler? ;)

:smooth:

Hi Kim....thanks for shedding that invisibility cloak and posting!! (Must have been a sale on those lately! ;) )

I'm not sure if the Cathay Circle was a New York theatre. If so, it would certainly qualify as an answer to this question. So here's a contingency AAQ to you in case it's completely correct!!

But I have a different New York theatre in mind.

And a belated welcome to our latest Carpe to join the thread. Carpedm....welcome to the Chalk Circle and feel free to jump in at any time! :)

BTW...plenty of breakfast goodies for everyone here!

Granny... I missed your reference to "New York".... Is it the Colony Theatre where Steamboat Willie premiered November 18, 1928?

Granny Thanks for breakfast :p... the croissant hit the spot ;)

:smooth:

Do I get another guess?

Was it the Roxy theatre which hosted the re-release of Steamboat Willie?

MBabe....yes, a black & white AAQ card to you for that response! I was referring to the Colony Theatre. Sorry I didn't notice the other postings about the Carthay Theatre....if that sucker is in New York, then everyone gets AAQ's too!

And thanks for the coffee.....I can really use it this morning!

Oh....and Happy Valentine's Day to the ladies of the Chalk Circle!

(sorry guys, you're on your own here! :)

How many invisibility cloaks do we have going out there? I better watch my step or I'll be bumping into things I can't see all day.

Here's a Valentine's Day themed question for you.

In the gangster theme of the Great Movie Ride, what is on the license plate of the ganster's car and what is its significance?
