Parks Game: Part 11! "Still Playing After All These Years..."

Karen....I've put my thinking cap on, and some are still guesses since I've only been visiting WDW since 1998.

If you had Wings
20K Leagues under the Sea
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Horizons
Skyway
Diamond Horseshoe Revue

I think I have the last four right. The first two were "before my time". :)

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner. Granny correctly place these attractions in the order they were retired:

If You Had Wings 1987
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea 1994
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride 1998
Horizons January 1999
Skyway November 1999
Diamond Horseshoe Review 2003

A :( AAQ to you.

Thanks, Karen. I wasn't sure whether Skyway or Horizons closed first...I just know they were both gone when we went back in 2000!! :)

Here's a "back to the start" question:

What was the average cost per acre that Disney paid for the land that WDW sits on?

Hint: Immediately after Disney went public with the fact that they had bought the land, the price per acre went up to $80,000 immediately for the surrounding land.

And yes, I'll play "too high, too low" with people on this one! :)

MBabe...that's a very magical guess, but too low, I'm afraid. Excellent effort though! :)

Although I've been previously "banned" from answering, I just wanted to venture a guess and say (in my best Dr. Evil voice) One Meeeeelion dollars?

Actually, he got a steal at an average of about $200 per acre.

(It wasn't until the annonucement of Disney's plans was made public that the price jumped literally overnight)

The figure I have is $180 per acre, which is amazingly cheap!
That comes out to about $5.5 million in 1965 dollars.

You're never going to let me forget that, are you Lou? :teeth:

Since $710 is too low, I'll guess $800.

Oh my gosh, am I dyslexic or something???

I told MBabe that her guess was too low, and of course it was too high!!

JamesD...you have the number that my source indicated at about $180 an acre. Here's a "wanna buy some swamp land" AAQ card for you!

And Ace, you were right there too...I was prepared to give the AAQ card if someone got close. And I can only hope you're kidding about feeling banned here...we count on you to answer questions and throw out your own great ones!

Sorry for the mix up....gee, you'd think "too high" or "too low" wouldn't be that tough of a concept! Oh well, I can always go back to my old job of being a gymnastics judge!

Granny.... was that way back when the leotards were bear skins? :p

Yes Ace.... don't even mention the word banned! :earseek:

Please help us out and toss out one of your great questions, you may have one of my personal AAQ cards, signed by the author of course. ;)

:wave2:

Oh man, and I would have guessed $180 too if you hadn't thrown me off like that :teeth:

Sandy...I'm feeling particularly guilty about throwing you off there.

Here....you can have one of MBabe's AAQ cards too! :p

I was kidding. To be honest, I was ready to agree with Lou's guess of $200.

Hello All! I finally find my way back to here after months away to find no question...how sad! Glad to see the game's still going on though! I'll stick aroud now, patiently waiting for another question to appear.... ;)

OK, with the ban having been lifted  , an exhausted Lou (and it's only Wednesday) will throw one out there:

What is the name of the logging company depicted in Kali River Rapids?

I'm 13 like BellHop but without the knowledge.:p I just came back from WDW and that ride and hve no clue.

How about Frontier Logging Inc.

Ace...I believe that is the Teetack logging company on Kali River Rapids. I'm sure I've misspelled that, but I think it's something like that.

Granny,

You get an extra-credit AAQ card for acknowledging your misspelling of the Tetak Logging Co.

:p :teeth:

I'll follow-up Lou's question with a related question.
What was Kali River Rapids going to be called originally, and what is the name of the river in the attraction?
