These messages are great! We had snow yesterday so I've spent the past two days reading almost everything. thanks for sharing your tips!
I haven't seen any posts about staying off-site and parking. We're staying at the Sheraton Vistana. I've heard that you can park at DTD and use the transportation to the parks. Someone else also said to park at the Polynesian but wouldn't we need a pass to do that?
We got our tickets thru AAA but want to avoid the $7 parking charge if possible.
Also, if we have a 5 day park hopper, but are arriving on Sunday and want to just cruise around, is it possible to do the monorail overview if we aren't using Sunday as one of our 5 days in the parks?
Thanks for your replies!

There is no transportation from DTD to the parks. They discontinued that because too many were parking at DTD to avoid the parking fee at the parks. The buses only go to resorts.

You can take the monorail without using your tickets.

You are not going to like this, but PAY the parking fee.

I am sorry, but parking at the Poly just takes up spaces for guest who paid. They do give you a three hour permit also and you should not exceed the 3 hours.

I understand wanting to save money, but this is just one of the expenses at Disney.

As the others have said you will need to pay the parking fee on the days that you will be visiting the parks. You are free to visit the resorts, but as CarolA mentioned they do now give you a three hour pass that must be left on your dashboard. Hoping on the Monorail on Sunday won't be a problem as long as you limit your parking time to three hours. Have fun.

Others have already answered but I will add my thoughts. Parking at the DTD takes up a spot that someone who is shopping there might need. Even if you park out in the far end of the lot, you would still need to go to a resort and then transfer to another bus to get to a park. Not convenient to say the least and it could be even worse if it is high season and you have to wait to get a bus that is not full.

As for parking at the poly. If you park at any of the MK resorts, you will be issued a 3 hour parking pass. If they notice your car there all day, you run the risk of being towed and that will cost you more than the $7.00 would be. I do not know how often they tow or how long you have to go over the pass, but I have seen it done (well I saw the towing happening at the Contemporary and not the Poly but they said they did it at all the MK resorts).

$7.00 a day is not that bad 'specially if you keep that money seperate for that expense.

You are so right! $7 isn't bad at all considering the Busch Gardens here charges $10 I think. We're counting up our pennies for our Disney fund and $35 will be put away for parking! Now I know how reliable my local sources are compared to everyone here.
thanks for all your input.
