Hi everyone. I know that there's parking for the Wedding Pavilion, but I was wondering if anyone knows if there's parking by the Whitehall Room & Patio. This is in case some of my guests that are driving want to drive over to the reception. Thanx! :flower3:

There isn't a lot that they can just drive into right near Whitehall or the Convention Center. They would need to either valet park at the Grand Floridian or us the GF's self-parking lot out in the boonies and trek back to the Convention Center (a savings of, oh, 5 minutes' walk vs. coming from the WP...?).

It's really not more than a 10-minute walk from the WP to the Whitehall Room, though.

Thanks Carrie. I was trying to figure out if I could save a bit on transportation if people decided to drive but I guess that's not practical. :confused3

We didn't use Whitehall but for our reception we paid the valet at the Beach club for our guests. Our planner made cute park tickets with our wedding info on the back to give to the valet and then we were charged for the amount of tickets they received at the valet. It included the valet fee and tip. We were charged an estimated amount for them on our BEO and it really made parking easy for our guests. It's the one thing at our wedding that I don't have a pic of and I wish I did.

Maybe you could do that for your guests? They could park at the GF valet and then walk over to the convention center which isn't as far as parking in the self park lot then walking over.

That sounds like a great idea! The tickets sound like they were really cute. that might also save me some money. If you don't mind me asking about how much did they charge for valet?

we had chartered a bus for the wedding, so we had our guests that drove park at the Wedding Pavilion and take the bus to the GF for the reception. After the wedding, the bus stopped back at the WP to bring them back to their cars before stopping at the hotels.

They were cute, I wish I had a pic! Our BEO says $14 per car. It included tip so that also made it easy for our guests.

Wow that's great. I'm going to bring it up to my planner. Thank you so much for the idea.

i like the pre-paid valet idea - thats a good one! we are getting married at the WP. we have a limo from like 745 - 1045 or something (i think its 3 hours?). anyway, the limo will pick the guys up off property and deliver them to the GF for pictures, then they will ride to the WP. we girls come down, take pics and ride over. the limo will make trips back and forth from the GF to the WP before, and, assuming there is time, drive people back to the GF.

we have about 28 guests. folks can park at the WP or the GF and decide what to do. we've made it really clear to folks who haven't been there where things are.

personally, i do not think in this type of situation, a person needs to provide any transportation, although of course that is very nice and generous. i wouldn't expect any transportation at most types of weddings or events i might attend, even if i am from out of town. that is why god made taxis!

i know thoughts are split on that issue, but i don't think the distance between the two and the parking lots are a hardship or strangely difficult. good luck with your planning!! :goodvibes
