ok, after much debate with myself and my family I finally gave in and decided to rent an ECV for our upcoming trip next week. We are going for my DDs birthdays and I would (along with my family) hate to have to ruin it bc I have to go back to the room and rest(I have dysautonamia with severe orthostatic intolorance). The thing is that I don't NEED the chair at all times. Since we are going early I was wonding if I could get in and park the ECV at 9, rush to the long line rides with my DH and DD4 and DD6 and then go back and get the ECV around 11---unless I need it earlier. I have used the a chair before, but only in like Walmart, etc and they tend to move fairly slow. Ive rented one offsite and I don't know if they would be fast or not.
Is there somewhere that I could park it and it be ok?

ECVs rented offsite are adjustable. They move from "turtle" speed to "hare" speed. Other Guests will get upset and think you're being inconsiderate and irresponsible if you use hare speed, especially in crowds :teeth: so I wouldn't worry about being too slow.

Take the ECV with you and put it on supersonic hare. It is nobody's business how fast you go as long as you are not a menace to society. They are more interested in the park than you. Use the chair early on to get from point A to Point B. Park it in stroller parking and take the key. I plan to go back to Disneyland next week if I can get some handlers to go with me, long story. I plan to park and walk on the rides with short lines through exits. Be warned that some lines can be a long long long walk up and down hills.

You will not need a GAC if you are in the ECV but if you plan to do some walking then get the GAC and tell them your limitations such as stairs. Remember that walking a block on 10 rides is one mile and 10 minutes per line is 100 minutes. Add up the 100 minutes on your feet, one mile walking, the stress of the ride and lines, and the work out of getting into and out of rides.

Rent from offsite. You can test drive it at the hotel, tour the resort, and if necessary do some practice maneuvers like backing up, parallel parking, and turning. You can check out their scooters which are smaller that WDW scooters, cheaper, and easier to use. They all go about 5 mph top speed and 3 mph is average person walking speed.

This dude did Magic Kingdom in a scooter. He is running full speed and as you see he is not going so fast as to cause a scene. You do see the kids who run ahead of the parents then stop and run back. This is something you deal with even when walking. I had one dude in DCA actually run with a stroller then stop in front of me and scream in my face to his family. It was as if I did not exist and I was slow waddling at the time. There is the lady who trips and the impromptu stops by people who just stop in a crowd. I love his videos and there are two more in youtube. As you see it is easy to do an ECV in parks if you have patience.

As you see most people are going from one place to another and do not even pay attention to a dude in an ECV. AT about 2 minutes in you see the stroller parking for Pirates, have fun with the videos.

Thanks for the video! Wow, it really put things in perspective and I see that I DEFINATELY would need the scooter. I ended up renting from Walker Mobility. I like how they are bringing it @ 9pm tues and picking it up 9am sat but only charging me for 3 days. Its perfect since we're getting there late tues and going to the parks very early wed.

I hope the one I got is smaller than the Walmart kind, though. I'm gonna take another look at it online and compare....

ThankS!!

Oh, and I love the hare speed!! I think that may just work!!:moped:

As you saw in the video hare speed is ideal when going from point A to Point B and there are not a lot of idiots around. I love the video as it shows the bad stuff like the lady who tripped and fell in front of him. Trolley tracks are for trolleys not people. With an ECV remember to head at a 45 degree angle on flat surfaces so your do not get stuck in the tracks, lol.

A stunt man explained how he could go down a steep hill without rolling the car. He said to got straight down with no turning to the side. You can go down very steep hills that way. If he wanted to roll a car then he would turn the wheel and roll even on not so steep hills. Same with an ECV.

The offsite rentals tend to be smaller than the Wal-mart ones as those have to handle a full basket of canned goods and a pooh driver. Rental companies have small large and pooh sized. Have fun on your trip.:moped: :drive:

Man, I LOVE that hare speed!!!!

I just got my very own ECV for Christmas and I have been taking it to places like Walmart when I have someone with me to push a regular cart. I put it in hare speed and leave everyone in the dust!
I laugh at my Mom who thought it was bad when I walked, because I always walked faster than she did. Now even in turtle I leave her, heaven help in hare. I find it fun.

All of the rental scooters from off site are smaller/ more compact than the ones at Walmart and grocery stores. Most are also 3 wheel.
