Parking while resort hopping?

We are renting a car for a couple of days in December to make it easier to see everything we want to. I have an AP and will also have a TiW card; I know you can park for free at the valet spots if you are eating at the resort - is this only if it is sit down or does QS count? What if I just buy a snack or a bottle of water? Is there a limit to that? Im guessing there must be, so does anyone know if parking is particularly bad? My boss who goes about once a year said the self-parks are pretty far away but the resort map I was looking at for Coronado for instance looked like there was plenty of spots all around the resorts. Do you just park anywhere or are the 'visitor' spots at the very back or something?

You need a receipt from the TIW restaurant to get the free valet parking.

Self-parking at any of the moderates is fine (because they have no valet.) Avoid the Grand Floridian if not valet parking.

Well, I figured we would get a drink at WL while we are there enjoying the fireplace and we are eating at the monorail resorts on other nights so I guess the only question left is if Mara is any good. Thanks for your answers!
