Hi -

I noticed by looking at googlemap satellite view, there is a rather empty lot by the golf course for parking @ Downtown Disney not far from Saratoga Springs.

I am wondering what would be the possibility that I could park for free there, in the last spaces near the golf course cart paths, walk over to the cart path, and across the bridge over to Saratoga Springs, and cut through Saratoga Springs to the bus station , and grab a Disney Bus to the parks from the Springs Bus stop?

It looks like it is very close. My only question is, can you park in this area even if the lot is empty or would you get a ticket? Do they tow @ Disney or just give you a ticket?

(I am staying off Property that is why I ask)

Thanks!

Personally I wouldn't do that just to save $14.00 at the Theme Parks because it's way to much trouble and it will take you a lot longer getting to the one you want to visit. Plus even if that section of the parking lot is never busy it's still not fair for the people who want to visit Downtown Disney so they can eat and shop there. Finally how do you not know that during the busier times of the year or on days like Friday and Saturday that parking lot isn't busy. The reason I say that is because you don't know when this picture was taken.

To be frank; Downtown Disney lots are for the guests at Downtown Disney, there is a reason why there are no busses from Downtown Disney to the parks and that reason is because many people who chose to stay offsite were parking there to avoid the parking charge, plus you are not supposed to walk the golf course paths unless you are playing golf.
Also, as the previous poster pointed out, you cannot tell if those lots are going to be full at any given time, so, be fair, pay the parking fee like everyone else does.

Your not the first to think and do this, but its againist the rules(you will see lots of other posts about how this is not true, but it is!).........now that said,

1. As posted above its alot of trouble, better to pay the parking!

2. Disney does tow, its rare but thier have been reports.

3. Guests as SSR have been complaining about over crowded buses and their MAYBE a test program starting to check for room ID's (putting markers in the cards) not not let you on the resort buses.

Folks will say this can't happen, yet they are the same folks who said Disney will never stop guests from reusing refillable mugs form past trips, yet programs are being put into place. They just had a big test at a value resort.

Have a great vacation

So, I can't use the ferry or busses if I'm off property?

No, and no one said that either. In fact, you would have to use the ferry or monorail to get to MK from the MK parking lot. And you can always use Disney transportation to get from one park to another, a park to a resort, etc. What was said was that particular lots are for particular purposes - DTD lots for shopping/dining @ DTD, golf course lots and paths for golfers, etc.

If Disney wanted you to park at these lots and go to the parks, they would have a bus service (which they did a long time ago but discontinued due to too many people using those lots to avoid the parking fee).

You should just budget for the parking fees in your budget and park at the parks. It is SO much easier anyway and much less time-consuming.

Not quite sure where you got this impression. Anybody can use the Disney Ferries or busses.

It seems alot of extra trouble and walking just to avoid a parking fee. Why take the chance of possibly getting your car towed from parking where you're not sure it allowed? I'm sure that would be a pretty fee to pay to get the car back. Cheaper and safer just to drive to the park and pay the parking fee.
