Parking situation at DLR/DCA

Basically, the situation is thus. Friday, April 24th we'll be driving from LA to DLR. I got the free military Three-Day Hopper Pass, the girl is going to get the Southern California 2fer ticket. We're staying at the Crowne Plaza Anaheim. My question is what I could do to make the parking situation work. I'm guessing that I'll have to pay for parking at the resort, then we can leave and check into the hotel, right?

Then pay the $10 or whatever "resort fee" at the Crowne when we check in I would assume, then check out in the morning and drive over to DCA. How much is parking at the DLR/DCA, anyways? Thanks.

First off - thank you for serving our country. :)

You get a free 3-day park hopper. I believe you can purchase up to five 3-day park hoppers at the price of a 1-day park hopper. You might want to look into that for the girl.

Parking at the DL Resort is $12/day. You might also consider getting an ART pass for your stay. The ART stops in front of the Crowne Plaza. You'd have to weigh convenience of going when YOU want to go against the timing of the ART, versus the hassle of parking yourself and taking the tram anyway to get to the parks entrances.

Thank you.

I checked. The thee-day Hopper is $89, while her SCA ticket is only $69. As long as we can leave and come back to the same park on the same day, that's fine. We're only going for two days.

Heck, $12 a day isn't that bad. You can pay almost that much at Kennywood, let alone DLR. All in all, I'll pay around $34 for parking and resort fees for two days :crazy2: . Oh, well. I have no problem driving the couple of minutes back and forth between the hotel and park. Heck, I fight Pittsburgh traffic each day. A'int scared.

Someone else on this board that knows KENNYWOOD! Woooooh hooo! My fav amusement park outside of DL! :) (Dh's whole family is from Pittsburgh, we go out there every year and did our first trip to Kennywood with the kiddos last June). :)

yeah, but its CRAAAAZY packed at the parking structure on busy days. id suggest parking at Timon or get redirected to Simba and walk through DTD.

I'm planning on getting there for the Opening Ceremony, will it still be packed?

You should probably call your first hotel to make sure you can just park and later on check in. Usually the parking/resort fees aren't done separately like that, rather they are all just on your bill at the end of the stay.

And you can also check to see how late you get parking on check-out day as well...the Disney hotels and HoJo allow you to park all day after checkout (with the disney hotels you'll turn into a pumpkin, ha ha, at midnight, for example).

actually per MCAS Miramar the price is 92.50 for the companion ticket. but my question is this. . . can I use this for my daughter's friend who is a dep of AD, we are AP holders????? and I'm bringing her with us next time we go. . hmmmmm, I wonder. . okay off to check the navy price.

I think that anyone can use the companion ticket, but it's best to ask the services representative.

While we are on the subject....my sister, who is in the Navy, is purchasing the 3 day hopper commpanion tickets for my family. We were going to go together, but she had to move her trip up a week because her DH, who is also in the Navy, is being deployed. We can't move our trip because my DH can't change his vacation. I called Disney travel company and asked if we had to be with my sister to use these tickets, she said we didn't, my sister only had to purchase them for us but didn't have to be there with us when we used them. Anyone have any experience with this? I figure worse case seniaro we pay the difference between the Military ticket and the regular one. Also does anyone know if these special 3 day hoppers have an early entry day on them? Thanks so much in advance!

Ok WAIT!!! You are staying at the Crowne Plaza yes? They have a FREE shuttle, you don't need to use ART at all. And yes, you can check in early, park and use the shuttle to head to the parks. You can ask them to hold your luggage is your room is not ready as well. :) Why pay the $12 for parking at DL when you can ride the shuttle at your hotel?

That's what I think I might do. I'll call them and see how early I can check in. I really want to be there for the opening, since my companion has lived 40 miles north of DLR and has never been there in her life.

Never? Wow.

I've never heard of a hotel that won't let you "check in", meaning do the paperwork, get the ball rolling, at just about any hour on that day. You won't necessarily get a room yet, but you can stow your luggage with them if they have a secure luggage room, park, etc. We checked in at something like 6:30am at PPH on our last trip, even though we didn't get our room until after 4pm.

That's cool. I'll just check in and jump on the shuttle to and fro. I wonder if they'll let me keep the car there after we check out and head to DCA for the day?

Yes, they do let you keep your car in the self park lot. :)

Yeah, I know. Sometimes I hate being as cheap as I am but what are you gonna do?
