If we go to a character meal at a DL resort, we get 3 hours free parking. What happens after that? Does it matter that we are annual pass holders.

It would be easier for us to park at the resort, then go to the park and at the end of our visit go back to the resort to pick up the car. Parking in the lot would be a huge hassle.

After 3 hours, they will charge you $17 for the first hour and then $9 for every hour after that. Having an AP has no effect on the charges...you only get free parking (if associated to your AP) at the theme park lots.
Here is the info on the DLR site:
Rates For Non-Hotel Guests

  • Self-parking: $17 for the first hour plus $9 per hour per vehicle, with a maximum rate of $53
I would not suggest parking at the hotel if you are planning to go to the park for the day.

I've done this and decided to "pop over" to the parks after our meal since we had time. Stupid idea, it was a pain in the butt to go back and move it to the parking garage after since popping into the park is never short. I wished I had just parked in the garage in the first place.

Which parking garage is closest to Paradise Pier resort?

Mickey & Friends is the ONLY parking garage for public parking.
However, the closest parking LOT to the PP Hotel is the Simba lot, which is right next door...that lot is also free if you have an AP, and it's an easy walk to DTD.

I agree that if you're going to go in the parks then you should park at either Mickey & Friends or Toy Story. It is not convenient to park at the hotel for a meal then have to move your car for longer term parking.
