Parking questions from Disneyland Newbie

Where is the best place or parking lot to park with a minivan? ie) closest to the park or monorail with least amount of walking?
Are all parking lots paid parking with in and out privileges? Just wondering if leaving the park mid afternoon to take nap at hotel is doable?

YEs, it's doable. But it’d be better to stay on harbor and walk back. That’s going to waste so much time.

We stay at one of the hotels or motels on harbor blvd. Some are a 7 min walk to the park like park vue inn or best western park place inn.

General rule of thumb on this board: stay at a hotel within walking distance to the parks if at all possible to avoid wasting time with driving and parking every day. Some of the hotels on Harbor are a closer walk to the park gates than the on site hotels!

If you do park in the garage and intend to leave and go back, make sure you keep the ticket they give you when you pay to enter the first time. Otherwise, you'll have to pay to re-enter.

There are two main lots: the Mickey and Friends parking structure and the Toy Story lot. Both are $20 for the day with in and out privileges (as long as you keep your ticket).

Parking is a pretty big hassle and time-suck, though. As PP mentioned, it’s definitely preferable to have a hotel within walking/shuttle distance (or use Uber or Lyft, if that’s an option.
