My mom needs to use a chair and I did some walking around 1 day before she arrived.. going from the average distance room, to breakfast at resort, back to room, then to bus and into the park to the point you can rent a chair was 2 miles of walking. roughly 1 mile just going directly back to the room on the way back. deluxes were worse than moderates because there is only 1 spot to get transportation. Now there might be limited use chairs around the resort but they are meant to/from the bus, you have to return them and someone had to go run and get them so they didn' thelp with coffee/breakfast...
I strongly recommend a third party rental. you can use it everywhere, roll up onto the bus.. It was only $50 for a full week of having the chair and cheaper than renting from disney or wherever you end up daily. so easy as the it'll be left at the bag storage which is next to where the airport bus will drop you off so it's right there to claim and use right away to get to the room.
I didn't check out other non-disney resorts but being local and how trams aren't always running and some trams aren't close to where you parked it's a TON of walking before you can even get to the rental.
