Parking question

We're going to WDW in June with my in-laws. We are flying and staying at AKL without a car and they are driving down to camp at Fort Wilderness. They want our kids to stay at least one night with them during the trip, which works wonderfully for DH and me. My question is if they decide to drive to AKL to pick up or return our kids, do they have to pay for parking? As of now, we're not sure which night they'll be staying with them and we may just use Disney transportation. I'm just curious if anyone knows the answer.

As long as one self-parks, there is not a fee to park at a Disney-operated hotel. (Valet parking is a different story). Your parents would likely be asked the purpose of their visit at the resort gate, and they could answer honestly. Note that they are not, however, considered hotel guests and do not have rights to the hotel pool (they can, however other hotel amenities).
