Friends of ours will be picking us up for dinner offsite one night during our BLT stay.

Do they have to pay to park if they are just coming to pick us up?

No, you can give the parking attendant their name and they will be allowed to enter the lot and pick you up. We had friends to something similar last trip to BLT and there were no issues.

No. They just need to tell the CM at the Magic Kingdom Parking Plaza that they are headed to Bay Lake Tower. The resort lanes are to the far right.

Let me emphasize that for you. Make sure they use the far right lanes! Other lanes go to the MK parking only. It would be dangerous to try to cross all those other entry lanes to access the road to the resorts.
