Parking protocol at DCL

When driving to Port Canaveral, which is the preferred method... Drop the family and luggage at the port and then go park... or everyone goes to the parking lot and everyone takes everything to the port? Do you walk from parking to the port or take a bus/tram?

Having only done DCL by transfer, I don't know protocol for driving there.

I would like to know this too. I know many people say that usually the driver drops everyone off at the Port, parks the car and joins them. I would like to know if we can just park the car and walk to the port from the parking lot. We will each have one suitcase on wheels. It's not really a big deal to walk with the luggage.

It's much easier for the driver to drop the rest of the party off in front of the terminal with all the luggage. The parking area isn't far enough away from the terminal for a tram.

Of course you can do either of the choices you have posted. Drop off the family first and then park OR park the vehicle and then walk up.

You can do both but you have to go through the drive through where everyone is dropped off to get to the parking lot (Although I've read that they are using a new parking lot across the street now for the 7 day which was always beside the "port building".
It is much easier imho to drop everyone off.
You have maybe a 5 - 7 minute wait in line then with your vehicle to get into the lot, and by that time your party is upstairs checking in and you join them.
All the luggage is taken by the baggage handlers and they make sure that the tags etc are done properly. Very nice people.

For anyone doing the Western cruises out of L.A. next year has anyone used the San Pedro piers and experienced the drop off/check in protocol there? I'm sure DCL will have their own staff etc there but just wondering if anyone has done this on the other cruise lines.
