Parking lot trams

Are parking lot trams running now? If not, when?

I haven't seen any indication that they're back. If that's true, not sure anyone can tell you when they will be. I imagine one day they'll just ... be back. Doesn't seem like something worthy of a big announcement.

The one in Tomorrowland is running. But it dropped me off at the same spot I got on.

Was just there this past week & saw signs in all 4 parks that said the trams were still not running.

I feel like trams will return with the college program kids. When I was a CP that is who ran the trams. Granted, that was a long time ago..

They were not running in April and I haven't seen any reports of when they are to return.

Ah, yes, Parking lot trams not running. If all the other negatives were to be overlooked when it comes to going to WDW that one alone would be a deal breaker for me. I have pinched nerve issues that limit may walking ability over long stretches of space so, that alone would prevent me from making the trip. At least universal has parking garages and moving sidewalks to get you there.

During the worst of COVID? Probably the ability to properly distance. Now? Could be any number of things: staffing issues, or something else. No one can tell you the exact reason.

Previously, I would guess social distancing.
Now, most likely lack of staff. Maybe once the College Program is back and running (soon it sounds like), the trams will start.
I would expect as capacity increases, they will need them again.

As long as you're not parked in Jaws, and the sidewalks are actually turned on and not still in morning rush switchback mode even though the morning rush is over. To quote DH as we approached the gates of IOA the day we went with the sole purpose of getting on Velocicoaster: "You mean we're not in the park yet?" (Positive note, though: we stopped at Voodoo Doughnuts to try the Churro doughnut on the way in and had zero wait.)

I have a list "Will postpone again if it isn't back" and this is one.
Some walks take more out of you than others. Parking lot walks are much worse than inside the park walking.

An average walk from any of the park's parking lots is about 1/4 + miles in Sahara like conditions. Asphalt temps are over 140 deg. F this time of year.
