I'm recovering from knee surgery and do not have a handicap parking tag. If I park in the regular lot how do I get an ECV or wheelchair on the tram. I'm the only driver so dropping off is not an option.

You don't (unless the wheelchair fits in a row folded). You would have to wheel/drive to the park entrance

My sister always drivers her ECV to the front of the park while we simply jump on the tram. Not ideal but the easiest option. Only once were we allowed to use the disabled bays down the front (Animal Kingdom) and that was just cause the CM was nice about it. We don't have a US or UK disability card as its a temporary issues (been going on for 5 years so far but should be operated on this year fingers crossed).

Could you ask your doctor for a temporary tag? I know when I had surgery several years ago, they were red tags instead of blue.

When you are at the booth for parking, let them know that you have an ECV and do not have a handicap parking permit. They may give you instructions at that point or me tell you to just tell each parking lot cast member as you get to them.
Then as you get to each CM as they are directing you which way to go let them know that you have an ECV. They do have some parking spots held aside for situations like that and may have to park in the area around the handicapped parking lot. Just look out for the parking spots with signs or blue paint; both of those are indications that they are handicap parking spots which require a handicap parking permit. If you park there without one you could get a very costly ticket.

If you are in the United States it's very easy to get the permit application for handicap parking. Most states have it posted somewhere on their website. You would printed out and send it or take it to your doctor for signature.

Then you take it or send it to whatever is the authorizing agency for your state. They can usually issue it fairly quickly. The permanent handicap parking permits are blue temporary permits are for up to six months and are red.

Yes should have said, my situation is based on the UK where you can't get temporary badges or tags.

I believe your doctor would issue you a temporary handicap placard if you asked. You take the form to your motor vehicle. This will get you into handicap parking. This is really not hard to do.

If you can't get one then as the other poster has stated you will have to ride your ECV from were you park your car to the entrance. If you are staying on site then you might be better off using Disney transportation than your car.

You can rent a scooter or wheelchair at the Disney parks, but they will cost more. You could then ride the tram from where you parked your car. Not sure how much walking you can endure, but you will still have to walk some to get to the park entrance and where you rent the scooters and wheelchairs at the parks.
