We are cruising in June to Alaska. We are planning on driving to Vancouver. Can someone please tell me about the parking situation at the cruise terminal. I see we can pre-pay to park. Is the parking safe? Are their other options for parking?

TIA

Are you planning to come in the day before at stay at a hotel for the night? I believe some hotels offer pre-cruise stays that include parking for the length of the cruise. We flew in so no personal experience.

My colleague who lives in Vancouver mentioned to me that it's expensive. However, I defer to those who live and traveled recently there.

We will be driving in the day before we cruise, but our hotel doesn't offer park and cruise packages. I went ahead and pre-booked a spot and figured I can always cancel if we do something different. The total ended up being $216 CAD, so I figured that wasn't so bad.... Thanks!

WestPark operates the cruise parking at Canada Place. It’s around $31 Canadian per day, so not cheap, but very convenient to be right at the terminal. Parking there should be safe, it is a secured lot under the cruise port and hotel.

Here is a link to book your parking in advance.

Thanks! Always nice when folks make life a little bit easier for others.

I know the cruise terminal parking garage offers a discounted rate for cruisers, does anyone know if I can park for longer than duration of the cruise with the discount? Most hotels near the cruise terminal charge more than the discounted rate, so I figure I might just park there during my pre-cruise stays (just 2 extra nights) if allowed.

Several years ago we drove to Vancouver for our cruise and we parked at the airport ... I think that we got a really good deal (on line, reserved) in their long term / economy lot. We then took the Canada line that dropped us off about 2 blocks from the port. Even with the Canada line fare - round trip, we only paid about 25% of what parking at the port would have cost.

the Canada line is pretty easy ... as the Airport is at one end of the route and the Port is at the other end, so since you're first on ... plenty of space for your luggage.

This really is not an option if you have too many suitcases to handle easily. Same with too many young children to wrangle along with the luggage.

If you are willing to schlep your bags around for an hour, the yvr air port lorg term parking lot offers 1 week for $115 CAD/$90 USD. There is a shuttle to the airport, then the Skytrian, which is about 30 minutes.

Skytrain tickets are $10 from yvr station to waterfront, and $5 return (add fare to Yvr doesn't apply, just for trips from the airport.)

If you are splurging on a Disney cruise, these parking costs - or savings by parking out of the way - will be a footnote. Just park at the cruise terminal for the length of the cruise and use your hotel's parking before or after. You will get to enjoy the entire vacation this way - not just the cruise.
