Parking in Timon lot?

We are getting ready for our first (of hopefully many) weekend trips to DL! We are driving for the first time. (Yet another reason to love moving from STL to AZ!)

Since we are going such last minute, we are staying a little farther away than we ever have and this is the first time we are not withing walking distance but at least we'll be at DL! So we are planning on driving over to the Timon lot and parking there. Does anyone know what time the parking lot opens? Is Mickey and Friends lot a better place to park? Do they not open the Timon lot until the M&F lot is full?

Our first day will be on a Saturday, so I know it will be busy and it is an EE day. We were just at DL in May, but I still don't want to get there and spend lots of time trying to get to a parking spot. I expect a line, but I will feel better if I have an idea of what else to expect. TIA DISers!

well welcome to az but im sure after next summer and winter you will not want to be here..but if you can deal with heat its not so bad. pm me if you want any good recomndations for sertion places around az.

as for the traveling thing i cant relly coment on i dont drive and when we do dl i dont deal with any of the parking things lol

Timon Lot is often let in at the same time as M&F. IF Timon lot is full, then people going in from the east side of the park and directed to the M&F lot.

I wouldnt suggest driving either way. $11 is a lot for parking... Might want to look into the ART buses to get to Disneyland and back.

We have PAP's which include parking so cost isn't a consideration for us.

So Timon lot is open at park opening or a little before? Which is the best side to enter from? We were planning on entering on the Harbor side.

I believe the lots open 1/2 hour before opening (or 1/2 hour before EE opening on EE day). I drove to Timon lot last August (early in the month, midweek) and I believe we arrived around 1/2 hour before normal park opening (can't remember if it was an EE day). We entered at Harbor, but we ended up getting directed over to the Mickey and Friends lot.

Why is it that many times the Timon lot is empty (not a single car), yet we get directed to M&F? I would think they would fill up the Timon lot first?

Timon is only used when M&F is at least 30% full. Also it should be noted that the Timon lot will be closing permanently soon, many reports say as early as October 1st to make room for "Car Land" which is not going to be based completely off of the movie Cars apparently. DCA is going through a major retheming and all of this has started with the construction of Midway Mania.

Filling up Timon lot also means you would have to run trams on both sides... sending you to M&F just means they only need to operate one tram line only. Cost less.

Carland is rumored... BUT i would think they would build a new Parking Structure first before destroying Timon Lot.

i dont think that is true though... i often see M&F 60% full but Timon lot is still closed... I think its only when they anticipate huge crowdings... even so, they would open Pinocicho lot before Timon Lot.

The Timon lot was open both Fri and Sat. On Sat it was actually full when we went in the morning and we were directed to the M&F lot. We left and came back in the afternoon and were able to park in the Timon lot then.
