Parking in Port Canaveral

su A ve: Do you know if there are any restrictions on where you can park at the Terminal if you use the Best Western discount coupon?

No. I will call tomorrow to double check. They did tell me I could book the AAA rate or the cruise rate to get the discount. It was the same price per night.

Has anyone stayed at the Country Inn and Suites near the port? We are trying to figure out the best hotel deal for the night before the cruise.

We stayed there at the end of April this year and loved it. We are a family of five and there was plenty of room. It cost us like $110 for the night. It is less then five minutes to port and they have a hot breakfast there in the morning.

FYI - spoke with the PC port authority. The coupons have no restrictions regarding a lot or anything - they are good for a discount on the rate you would otherwise pay.

Also, it's not exclusive to the Best Western. Supposedly also available at La Quita, Days Inn and International Palms, all of them in Cocoa Beach.

So this gives us more options!

I was drawn to park n cruise for the price as well. Although much cheaper, we did run into an issue when leaving the ship....it was pouring. This said, we had to wait in the drop off area with our luggage in the rain, getting soaked, for approximately 45 minutes for the shuttle as there were 30 plus people waiting to go to the lot. Once we got back to the lot, we were dropped off in the center of the gravel parking lot (still pouring) with our luggage to fend for ourselves. By the time we got into our car, we and our luggage were soaked through. I realize this is not an everyday issue, but oncw was enough for me. I will pay extra to park at the port.

We were also dumped in the middle of the lot with our luggage, but at least it wasnt raining. It is very difficult to pull heavy luggage over gravel:mad: I think the service is good when first checking in, but on the way back not so good....we waited at least 45 minutes to be picked up. I was beginning to think they would never come. It made me very anxious!

Su A Ve: Thanks so much for getting an answer on the parking coupon question! I tried calling Best Western, but they had no idea. Plus, that's the first I've heard of the other options which is really nice to know. :thumbsup2

LOL - I called Best Western yesterday and they said, 'yeah, someone else called asking about this - sorry we don't know...'

Late in the day I got thru PC and they gave me those details. We have a res with BW, but will look at what La Quinta has to offer...

That's so funny. Best Western must have wondered why there was all this sudden interest.....:rotfl2:

FYI - switching to La Quinta. They have the 40% coupon but their rate is much better than BW. And they are rated higher in travelocity. Rate is about $28 cheaper.

It is a 100% non smoking hotel if it's an issue. In this case, you need to book that specific rate, but it was cheaper than the AAA rate.

After a bad experience with park and cruise at the Radisson, we will park at the port from now on. The lot is secured, right across the street from the terminal, since they built the garage your car is in the shade and we don't have to touch our luggage from the time we put it out the night before getting back to port and when we get home. The porter gathers our luggage when we point it out, takes it through customs, follows us to the car and packs it in the back while we get settled up front. I told DH about the discounted lot and read him the reviews, thinking that he would want to park there to save some money. Nope!

I've heard great things about the Radisson - so I'm very tempted to book this great deal! Anyone used them?

Has anyone used Cruise Parking of Port Canaveral? The are located on Cocoa Blvd. They park the car and immediately return the key. DD wants her car to be in a safe lot where random drivers aren't coming and going due to her parked car having been a victim of a hit and run in a parking lot. Is the Lot at the terminal only for DCL cruisers?

I really like this hotel chain. We stayed at this one about 3 years ago and we had to move to 3 different rooms to get an AC that would work. I am not the picky type that complains, but it was hot and humid with 6 in a suite we needed AC. It was very clean, very close to port and included breakfast. I would still recommend the hotel. Management took $25 off my bill for the hassle and comped us for the shuttle...but we had a rental car so the shuttle comp was a waste.

Yeah, about that "secured lot". We stayed there in January 2010 for a 3-night cruise. We planned to park at the port, but the girl at the front desk suggested that we save the money and park in their "secured lot" for free at the time. Upon our return from the cruise, we found that our van had been broken into. There was nothing out in the open, just a couple suitcases from the WDW portion of our stay and some pillows/blankets from the drive. According to the police, there were at least 7 other reports made that same morning from others who returned to find their locks popped out, which is when they put the device over the key entry and tap/hammer it to gain access to the inside of the vehicle. There was a security camera, but no one was monitoring it. There was nothing at all that could be done. There is no fencing around the lot where you park for cruise parking and there is not a security guard to enforce keeping your vehicle secured.

Yes, the DCL terminal is the only thing close to the parking garage. You prepay for the parking based on the length of your cruise.

You actually pay at the end of your cruise. I wish we still pre-paid (I think that's how they get back-to-back cruisers).

I didn't realize they changed that. DH usually drops us off at the curb before parking.
