Hello!!! I will be traveling to NYC from Friday (March 6th) and leaving Sunday afternoon. I will be staying in the 600 block of 2nd Avenue and am looking for budget parking. I did go to "Central Parking" and found two locations that I THINK are close by (350 E30th Street and 222 Lexington). Does anyone have any experience?

Also, I plan on arriving about 2:00 p.m. and do some siteseeing. However, my friend will not be ready for me until 8:30 p.m. and I need to store my luggage in my car. I beleive that this may pose a problem, does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!!!

There's no such thing as budget parking in Manhattan. But, I've used Central garages back when I had a car, IMO they're okay. I'd feel fine leaving luggage in the trunk as well.

You can mapquest the parking garage and your location and just check the walkable distance.

Maybe finding somewhere with in and out privileges would be good (so you're guaranteed to at least get back to your car). Otherwise, maybe call the place you decide on and make sure you'll be able to get to it. I've seen places that are REALLY tight or the high rise garages - places like that, that may have to move other cars for you to get yours, might charge you for getting to your car. (I have no experience with this personally, but I've seen some crazy parking lots in NYC!)

There are some places (central, icon, etc) where you can get a good deal on parking if you arrive between 6-10am. I forget the price range but it's VERY reasonable. Check out all the parking places in Manhattan. Don't limit yourself to main blocks in midtown --- as you go further east or west, the prices get less expensive. Don't limit yourself to "main" areas --- Manhattan has buses, subways and cabs to get around, not to mention, it's a very walkable town!

Check groupon and living social. They have deals on parking in NYC all the time.

You can also try bestparking.com. You can enter neighborhood info, in and out times, etc and they list all the options on a map. It's very useful.
