Parking fees per night at HRH?

I was surfing around Universal's website to see pricing, and I saw that Hard Rock charges $18.00 per night, $25.00 for valet.

Has that been everyone's experience, or is this antiquated small print?

If this is the case, this is no cheaper than parking at the park and walking in. Therefore staying somewhere much cheaper makes sense. I'm not that concerned about the early access or line skip benefits to staying onsite because we are going the second week in December, and when I was there a couple of weeks ago, we walked onto everything with zero lines.

Onsite guests are charged a parking fee at each of the resorts. I think $18.00 is about right for the hotels but the garage is only $15.00 for the parks.

Since you aren't concerned with the onsite benefits, you should stay offsite but close...maybe somewhere that has a shuttle so you wouldn't have to pay to park in the garage.

There is more to the onsite hotels than express and early entry.

the parking fee is cheap compared to other places where i have stayed.

went to a christmas party at a chgo hotel last weekend for company party.
$40 to park at the hotel for 4 hours.

the darkside hotel parking charges are per night.
when you check out in the morning, no charge for that day as the rate begins at midnight.

Oh..... Do tell!

Please educate me.

This sounds like a personal ad, but here goes: I'm into easy when I'm on vacation. I don't mind paying a bit more to make life a bit easier. For me, on vacation, time is money. However, I'm not into throwing cash out the door with no payback for just posh, it's got to be convenient too. For example, if it's likely we have a car, it might be easier to drive to US and pay the fee, rather than take a shuttle.

I'm not certain I'll need a car, but given the costs of transport to US, it might be around the same price to get a car for 2 days. With a car we can pick up some groceries and water for the week. We will probably return the car to the Car Care Center on our first day at WDW when we go there following US/IoA.

I visited IoA before my WDW trip a few weeks ago, but I was staying at my ILs then. I really loved it and want to share it with my kids. So, we are staying either onsite or nearby, and will do 2 nights.

The parking fee at HRH was the only part of our recent visit there that irked me. At the cost of the hotel, I think self-parking for guests should be included.

That was the one of the few things that Disney did better than US for us.

no, disney has that fee.

it's included in the room rate.

Meh.....semantics, really.

Just roll it into the room price at HRH, then. It won't seem as obvious. I know it will negatively impact those who don't drive and park there......but I'll certainly feel better (ignorance is bliss, yes?).

LOL.

Missed my tongue-in-cheek point, altogether.

It's all good. Charge or include in the room rate.....either way works OK for me.

For us (and make note of the "us" aspect) it was a bit laughable, the parking fee on top of the hotel charge. Kind of a nickel-and-dime-you fee on top of the room rates.

It's a vacation destination....not such serious stuff, really.

I believe the hotel and parking lot are run by different businesses (as is the park). Hotels are run by Loews, park by Universal, and I think the parking lots are by someone else.

Well if you want easy and convenient then stay onsite. I will tell you you will fall in love. Then when you go over to Disney you will already be spoiled. Most people do Disney first then finish at Universal. We stayed onsite for the first time about 6 years ago and now we won't go without staying onsite. It's a true vacation and relaxing.

Now if you don't need a car there are other peeps that use a town car service from the airport to the hotel with a 30 minutes grocery stop. Then use that service to transfer to Disney too. I'm not familiar with it due to living here in Florida. So we always bring a big cooler and food. I'm sure someone will chime in with details. :thumbsup2

I forgot to add:

When we visit Disney we still stay onsite at Universal and drive down each day, that's how important it is for us. Then we can't wait to get back to Universal to start relaxing.

We used to stay offsite but after staying at the HRH on one trip that was the end of staying offsite. Beside the early entry and express lines access, just having the convenience to walk back to the resort in about 5 mins. is great. It makes it much easier to come and go if you want to take a break during the day. The pool great to relax around. We also love the convenience of being able to do all the water rides at IOA and then going back to dry off and change and not have to spend the rest of the day in wet clothes. I guess for us the parking fee isn't a big deal since we are spending so much for our Universal/Disney trip anyway. We use valet at both HRH and Disney since vacation for me is not having to walk to and from a parking lot and getting into a hot vehicle. The convenience and time savings for us is worth staying onsite.

Our experience recently was that the car park is very full during weekends. So when we came back late on Saturday night, we had to circle a few rounds and wait for someone to leave before parking. To have to pay and still have difficulty finding a parking lot is ridiculous. Our recent experience at HRH was disappointing. We stayed 5 yrs ago here and it was better then. Maybe we are just unlucky but frankly while the hotel facilities are good, the customer service and "software" is no where near Disney. The poly where we stayed may be old and not as nice as Hard Rock, but our 11 days stay was pleasant and service at Disney more consistent and better than HrH. Housekeeping in HRH is really tardy. Room not done even at 4pm! And after that need constant reminding! The bathroom at the Deluxe room at HRh is also pathetically small. Half the size of the bathroom at the Poly.

When you have trouble finding a parking spot, just inform them and they will valet park it for the same cost.
