I haven't stayed onsite with a car in a few years, but we will be at ASSP next month. I had planned to do online check in to skip the desk but then how will they know I have a car and to charge me? Will I need to go to the desk anyway? Thanks for any info.

Some say it is when you check in at the guard booth or use a MB to open the gate. Truthfully, I do not think even WDW knows:( There is a thread where I read that people are being charged that did not have a car and some are not getting charged and they had a car and so on. Typical WDW implementation.

I wouldn’t volunteer any information, if this is the new policy it’s disney’s responsibility to have a system in place. A paying guest should not have to waste their time at the front desk fixing Disney’s mistakes (When we do have too, we should charge them a fee)

It sounds like I'm not the only one confused by this, LOL! Will the guard give us the parking pass thing to leave in thr windshield or do they not do that anymore?

Maybe, maybe not. Another inconsistent thing at WDW.

:rotfl:Now I remember why I have been shying away from WDW so much lately.

So I guess I should do the online check in, see what the guard tells me, go from there and hope the car doesn't get towed. :faint:

Your car will not be towed. Just check-in at the guard gate and park where you are directed to park.

As to if you are charged for overnight parking that is still developing since the policy only started as of March 21. Expect changes and improvements as the program is rolled out and properly integrated into the resort back-end computer systems.

No worries. As @Dave006 said, you definitely will not get towed. It's just up in the air as to whether you will actually be charged or not.

If you do online check in and they text/email your room number to bypass the front desk, you don’t have to go through the guard gate. You can just use your MB at the unmanned gate. I do that all the time. I don’t think it will make a difference from a parking fee standpoint but it’s nice not to get stuck behind a first timer with 30 minutes of questions for the guard.

Good point! :thumbsup2

We did drive and do online check in 3 years ago. I remember getting the text and skipping the desk, but I can't remember what we did, when actually pulling in. I wasn't even picturing 2 different lanes, but you are right, I can see it now. ;)
