Parking Enforcement - Good news

I have a 'drive from wheelchair' adapted van which I park outside my house in the street, in a 'handicap only' parking space.

I return home yesterday to find a car in the space with no handicap tag. I phone the local parking enforcement team and within the hour a parking enforcement officer arrives in a truck, issues a ticket, takes a few photos, loads the car onto the truck and drives off to the car pound.

15 minutes later there is someone in the street shouting 'where's my car, where's my car?'

lol, if only that happened in America. Last night I had a delivery truck blocking my driveway, no way would the police show up. I am so glad to hear justice was done, woot.

Several years ago in Fairfax (VA) I saw a car squeezed into the cross-hatch between two disabled spaces while were were going into a store. I called the police to report it. About 20 minutes later on our way out of the store we saw a police tow truck hooking up to the car.

I have seen this in the UK too and the offending car had a 'disabled' badge!!!!

Quite why one 'disabled' person would block in another is beyond my comprehension.

A couple of months ago I had to go to a country club for some staff training. The country club had all the accessible parking spaces in an entirely separate lot near the entrance, All had the blue squares on them but they had some larger spaces for those that need room to unload mobility aids etc. and some common size ones for those that just needed to park closer to the entrance.

When I rolled up all the larger spots were taken, but since it was a swanky place one of the valets noticed and came to my rescue. Just then an older gentleman came out and headed to a car (with a placard) in one of the larger spaces. The valet chewed him out and explained the difference in the parking spaces... His response? Oh yeah, sorry toots I like to park in the larger spaces so I don't get the door dings.

The other thing that got me was that he had to park farther away, with a longer walk to the entrance to use the larger spaces

At our last WDW trip, we saw someone parked in the curb cutout next to the handicapped stall in front of our OKW "home". We called security as we walked out to the bus and saw security arrive to take care of it before our bus came.
