Parking at Resorts

I’m wondering if you’re staying offsite, are you allowed to visit the resorts and park there? Is there a fee? If not, at what time do they start charging for overnight? I’m asking as we were thinking of visiting the hotels on the monorail before the Christmas party at Magic Kingdom the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Could we park at Grand Floridian, visit other hotels too and then take the monorail into the park while leaving our car at the hotel? Probably wouldn’t get back to the hotel until 12:30/1am.

No. You are going at the busiest times of the year. You will need to park at the Ticket and Transportation Center. You can then take the monorail to the Grand Floridian to visit the resort and the monorail back for the party. Parking at resorts are for people with reservations only and are strictly enforced during busiest times of the year!!!

Thank you for the response. Going next year at this same time so I thought now would be a good time to get feedback. If you were to book a reservation at one of the restaurants in hotels, how do they enforce/know you are there for that and is there a time limit?

When you stop at the front gate of the resort, the CM there will ask your name and what your business is there. They generally have a clipboard (or now computer) with all the guests names who have ADRs at the resort and they will cross-check that. Generally, the unwritten rule is that you have about 3 hours to do your event there but I don't know if that is really ever enforced.

On busy times of year, I think they do some enforcement to ensure that guests with ADRs can actually park, if need be, for their ADR and that resort guest can also park. At other times, I would say there is really no enforcement.

We were there 2 weeks ago and decided to go visit resorts on one of our down days. We went to the Boardwalk Inn, POFQ, Grand Destino, and the Poly. It was the middle of the day and we had no reservations. We just explained what we were doing and there was never an issue. Had it been Thanksgiving or Christmas weeks, I'm sure we would have been turned away.

You can park at TTC and actually walk to Poly and then do your monorail tour from there. Alternatively, you can valet park at one of the resorts, do the monorail tour and then go back to your car at the end of the evening. If I were to do the latter, I would valet at CR so you can walk back to your car at the end of the party. It's much easier than taking a monorail or boat back to TTC, Poly or GF. As others have said, I don't know exactly when you are going, but during holiday weeks, parking is strictly enforced and reserved for resort guests and those with ADRs.

Plus if you are not a guest of the resort, you might not be permitted to valet park if it is during a busier time. I've seen them turn away guests at the CR who wanted to valet park but weren't staying there.
