Parking at Resort

If we have breakfast reservations at Ohana on NYE morning, are we okay to park at the Poly? Will they give us a parking pass or what?

You typically get a 3-hour parking pass when you have a reservation at a resort. On New Year's Eve, which is a very busy day in the parks, I imagine they will be very strict. I would park at the TTC and walk to the Poly for breakfast.

On a day like New Years Eve you will be getting a 3 hour parking pass and in the past on that day I have seen the security Cast Members walking around the parking lot checking each of the cars and etc seeing if they had a parking pass.

With a breakfast reservation they'll no doubt let you park at the Poly.
But if you're going to the MK immediately thereafter, follow Claire's advice. It's a short walk.

New Year's Eve is probably the most crowded day of the entire year at MK.

Since you have a reservation it is very likely that you would receive a parking pass. It is also much more likely that the parking passes will be enforced. If you plan to leave the area after breakfast you should be fine. If your intent is to go to MK after breakfast, park at TTC and walk to the Polynesian.

Hi we are 100% newbies and I am handicapped, I use my dd's stroller as a walker ( so we dont push 2 thing around) my question is for the MVMCP can I park at poly and keep the car there I am staying at AKL, I was told it very hard to find handicap parking after 2pm this is for the 16th...Thursday, this way i can take the monorail to and back from the resort is this possible thank you

Parking is pretty limited at all the MK area resorts, and really, they request not to park at a resort for theme park access. Personally, as my mom is in a Wheelchair for the parks, I find it easier to take the bus to the MK, it drops you off in front of the MK, no need to change to a boat or monorail. We drive to the other parks, but always take the bus to the MK.

You will need to fold up the stroller before you board the bus, though.

The three hour rule applies to everyone whether you are on or off site.

You can valet park at a resort and I think you don't pay if you have a handicap placard.

The OP may still be stuck with a three hour parking pass even with valet parking. And if she is not dining at the Polynesian, they may not let her park there. There should be handicapped parking available at the TTC though.

there may be a 3 hour limit on free valet parking with handicapped parking--that I'm not familiar with.

However, when you pay to valet parking there is no 3 hour limit...the only limit is if you leave the car overnight they will charge you for another day. It's $12 a day flat rate no matter how long you leave the car (and they absolutely do not limit it at all, ever. Not even on holiday weekends. Not on Saturday nights when the monorail and Epcot resorts are thronged with people using the restaurants & bars.) We frequently valet park to eat at resort restaurants & then go to the adjacent parks (or monorail to MK) We have been told time & again there is no limit to number of hours you leave your car with valet. Though we get free theme park parking (both AP and we always stay at Disney hotels) we still find it well worth the valet cost of $14 ($12 + $2 tip when we pick up)

The poster who asked about handicapped parking at resorts you are not staying at just to achieve park access should post that question (or look for the answer) on the disABILITIES board. They will likely be able to give you the answer.

But did you actually pay to valet park or use TIW, DVC or some other free valet parking?

We have valet parked at Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Boardwalk and Beach Club on many occasions including Labor Day Weekend, Memorial weekend and several very busy Saturday nights...have been told we can stay as long as we like every time. We've done this every trip this year (4), as well as 2 out of 3 last year, and don't know how many times year previous to that. They've never given us any time limit, and we've asked (because this gets posted so many times on here about a time limit...every time we've asked we've been told no limit on valet parking because you're paying for it. Self-park, yes, there's a time limit.)

The Poly has one of the smallest if not the smallest parking lots of any resort. That's why they tend to be stricter than many resorts especially Christmas to New Years. That period is a lot busier than other holidays. So comparisons with other resorts and other times don't really apply. Depending on crowd size and number of people trying to park there we have seen them be strict and tow cars a number of times including from valet at various times of the year.

In terms of special needs, Disney had to plan for hundreds of these each day and the best place to get the most useful info about this is Disney itself or the forums specifically for these discussions.
