We have reservations for Chef Mickey's for Breakie. Question is can i park there and then leave car while we go to park? Easier for us since Dad has trouble with knees and walking to Magic Kingdom would be hard from parking lot there.

Would anyone consider this "cheating the system" or is it even ALLOWED? Last time we were there (december 1999) Late November/early December it was never a problem to park at the poly all day --- now I am worried rules have changed. :worried:

I believe they will give you a pass for a certain amount of time to allow you to eat, might be a good idea to have proof of your reservation although it might not be necessary as they may have a list of the reservations, and then you are suppose to park elsewhere for your park time. I am not sure how they monitor it....

I think that your better off just parking at the TTC and Monorailing it over .If you need to just drop him off at the tram stop before you park then meet up with him.

They do check parking permits at the resorts sometimes and it would be a shame to get towed at Disney.

This poster is correct and giving you good advice here.

I believe you used to do this but they are really cracking down on this. TTA to monorail wil be a shorter walk for your dad then the walk from Contemporary.

When you go into the Contemporary you will be given a three hour parking pass. However, if you use valet parking there is no time limitation.

However, the valet parking is currently $7.00 and the valets are tip positions (less than minimum wage), so figure an additional $1-$2 both on arrival and departure. Note the valets do not get any part of the $7.00 fee. The only exception to the $7.00 daily fee is a vehicle with handicap plates or hang tag.

So since we will have Dad's Handicap tag we CAN park there? Without paying $7.00 valet (I will TOTALLY tip the dude/dudette)

You have received good advice here. Tell the parking attendant at MK that you need to be near the tram loading area because someone in your party has a mobility problem. They will park you as near to the trams as possible, often on the end of a row. It will be a shorter walk to/from the tram to the monorail and then ultimately the MK, than to walk it from the Contemporary. Do NOT park in the handicap parking area at MK if you have a walking/mobility problem...you will have to walk further, and use a steep ramp under a traffic bridge, while fime for most wheel chairs and ECV users, where the concern is lack of steps, for walking it isn't great. Are you staying onsite? If so, I would take the bus to MK, then monorial over to Contemporary fo breakfast, then monorail back to the park. The monorail station at Contemporary has added an elevator. Another option would be to park at the Contemporary for breakfast, send everyone in your party on the monorail to MK, then re-park the car in the MK lot. You could repeat the process in reverse when you leave the park.

I am not sure about the whole handicapped parking idea, maybe that will work for you. When we were there in May my bf and I met my parents and rest of the fam for breakfast at CM, they parked at the Contemporary and were given the 3 hour parking pass and told they cannot just leave the car there for the day. After breakfast we took the monorail to the park while my dad and bf parked the car in the lot and took the boat make to MK. Hey if nothing else they got some good bonding time in and we got to watch Cinderellabration without the "boys"!! Hope everything works out for you!

We do this whenever we go to o'hanas for dinner and then we just take the monorail over to MK. AND remember that if you pay for valet at one resort, you just keep your receipt for you can use it for free (well, for tip) at any other resort for the day! It's a great deal!

1) If you valet park, you can park all day ($7, plus tip).
2) Free parking for handicap is only if you are staying at that resort.
3) This way, they don't charge your room.

4) You will get a 3-hour pass to self-park.
5) If you go to the parks, you risk being towed.
6) AND THEY DO TOW, especially during busy times.
7) They are cracking down on people mooching a parking space.
8) Too many times, people staying at the resort have no place to park.

There is a sign when you drive into the Contemporary that says "We do not provide parking for the Magic Kingdom", which is refering to non Contemporary Resort guests. So this has been a problem at the Contemporary & it is unfair to their guests who sometimes can't find a parking spot & it makes guests just parking there to eat look bad because who knows if they plan on going to the Magic Kingdom later on, because there some who follow the rules. So the best thing to do is park at the TTC, because you can leave your car there until the Magic Kingdom closes.

The park Parking Lots have Handicapped spaces reseved for the handicapped. The resort parking is for resort guests. They will allow a 3 hour park to enjoy a meal, but not to park for the day.

Oh and in case anyone is wondering, the 3 hour parking allowance does not cover pool hopping!

If your going valet park for your car for the $7.00 + $1.00 or $2.00 tip, don't you agree you might aswell pay the $9.00 parking fee to park at the TTC? I only suggest that if you plan on going later on to the Magic Kingdom, because like I said in my previous post you can park at the TTC until the Magic Kingdom closes. If you are just going to the Contemporary & not planning on going to the Magic Kingom, then if you want to valet park go right ahead.

Was that really necessary??

I use valet parking at CR, GF, and Poly because after a long day at the parks I like to have someone get my car for me lol.

And I have NEVER heard of a resort running out of Valet Parking so I dont think Disney has a problem with it.

We parked over there for dinner at the CG, then walked over to MK for EMH.

We had a DVC member parking permit, so nobody bugged us. I think we left the minvan there for about 6 or 7 hours.

We don't make a habit of doing it, but it's a big PITA to get back in the car and go over to TTC.

How many acronyms can I use in one post?!

My parents were there in May- my mom asked the parking attendant about this towing policy, and he said they absolutely do not tow anyone, even if they are over their allotted time. Has anyone ever actually seen anyone get towed, by the way? I'd be interested to know. princess:

I've stayed at the CR several times and it is SO annoying to circle the parking lot trying find a spot and then seeing someone who just parked put their Santa hat on for MVMCP and walk over to MK. Or to have such a hard time finding spots all week only to read threads like this and realize why I couldn't find a spot.

The valet parking doesn't really affect me as a guest of CR but eventually, if everyone does this (as word spreads here on the DIS) because parking at the TTC is a "PITA", it will become a problem. Why don't you pay to stay at the CR if its such a "PITA" to park at the TTC?

There's only so much parking to go around at the CR; their parking lots weren't designed to accommodate MK cars as well as CR guest's cars.

But there isn't much I can do about it except vent here and also to hope that the CR gets strict about the parking rules/policies and that they do infact tow cars that are there for more then 3 hours. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Many on the DIS have reported seeing cars towed at both the Poly and CR. I'm very happy when I hear this. :cool1:
