Was curious, I'm staying there for a week 9/28-10/3. Should I do Valet Parking, or do you think there will be plenty of room at that time of year to get a good SELF parking space?

We have never had a problem finding good self-parking, even at the busiest times such as Thanksgiving.

The parking garage is quite large and always seems to have spaces.

I agree with goofy! We just returned last week and there was plenty of parking. We have had issues with parking at RPR, but at PBH, I think they have more spaces.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I am staying at RPR for the first time next month. I am curious about what types of "issues with parking" you have had at RPR?

Thanks!

There were no spaces available and we had to park in the grass.

If you cannot find a parking spot, tell them and they should comp valet park it. Make sure you let the front desk know as well and make sure you are not charged.

Parking at RPR can be difficult if it is busy, lack of spaces is certainly a problem

Since Alison and my family stayed the same time (and never did hook up...LOL), a couple weeks ago we never had a problem parking at the PBH, IN FACT, I never did get charged parking (did you Alison). I DID THOUGH, have a hard time trying to get in and out of the self parking lot.
The PBH has a underground parking garage and there was always open slots in there or above. The trouble we had was trying to get in and out. The gates would be open sometimes and sometimes they wouldn't. To get in we took a ticket (I had a stash of them). To exit either your room key or a credit card with the ticket. Like I said the gate would be open on the exit most of the time, more than the entrance. One time I tried over and over my room key to get out and finally pushed the buzzer and the gate opened. There are no attendants in self parking.

Also to let everyone know I am an annual passholder and I don't think that makes a difference at the hotels, just the parks for parking.

The parking garage at PBH is one of the reasons why I'll only stay there as opposed to the other two hotels. I've never stayed at RPR, but I can tell you that at HRH there are way too few parking spaces. I had serious problems finding a spot during both my stays there, and I don't travel during peak seasons, so I doubt the hotel was full. I know that you can go argue with valet and try to make them park your car without a valet charge, but I just don't want to deal with that on vacation. I found that there were always ample spaces in the PBH garage, it's a pretty big garage. I don't think you'll have a problem finding a spot.

We had that problem on our last stay when we encountered the down gates. We kept putting our room key in and pushing the button to open the gates. Wasn't happening.

Then, with a big DUH and slapping of the forehead, we finally figured out that there is a separate slot to put the room key in. It will not recognize the room key in the credit card slot.

The box next to it has the slot for the room keys. We put it in there and the gates opened immediately.

It is a bit confusing because it is not well marked.

And mind you, this was our umpteenth stay there, the second one in just 3 months. So, even parking garage veterans can get stumped. :goodvibes

Now, Goofy, I did see the two different slots and kept trying my room key in the correct one, but it kept giving "card expired" error. I tried like 6 times and finally kept pushing the buzzer when no one answered, then all of sudden the gate opens. :lmao: So I feel your pain!

Dave, I really don't know if we were charged or not. We swiped our room key each time we entered and left the parking garage. It wasn't on our ticket when we checked out, but it also said that we would be responsible for any other charges during that day. We had a credit balance at the end of our stay and I'm thinking that it will probably be taken out of that.

Another consideration, last week self parking at PBH was $15 per day plus $0.98 tax. Valet parking (which we did not use) was posted as $25 per day at the cashier window. I don't know if it was that high for people staying at the hotel.
