My husband is driving my daughter and I to Port Canaveral. He is not cruiseing with us. He will be seeing us off and then leaving. Will he need to use long term parking/10.00 per day, or will he be able to park somewhere else for an hour? Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.......... :flower:

Also when he picks us up will he be able to enter the terminal?

Not sure about the parking. They have a drop-off area, but for an hour I'm not sure where he could park.

When he picks you up, it is not at the terminal upstairs but rather downstairs at baggage claim. Baggage claim/Customs is a secure area. I do not think he will be allowed to go in there. If I recall, the only entrance to that area is directly from the ship. No other outside entrances, only exits. He will probably have to wait for you outside.

I'm going to move this post over to the Cruise Board. You'll probably get a lot better response over there.

Thanks for the info.....would like to hear from anyone else that knows the answer. He will be able to come in with us and see us off though...Correct? :confused3

If I can recall there is lot that you can enter that does not require payment...it is near the employee parking lot, across the street from the terminal. We had to wait there for a good 30 minutes while they were getting the terminal ready to allow us in.

Unfortunately your husband will not be allowed in the terminal at all to see you off....only passengers are allowed in. He will just be allowed to drop you guys off and then if he wants to hang around, he would have to do it in the lot I mentioned above....

What time was he planning to drop you off.....the terminal opens at 10:00 (for dropping off luggage) and they usually start letting people check in around 10:30. Boarding the ship is around 11:45 to noon. If he waits to see the ship off it won't be for hours as the ship leaves at 5:00. Everyone must be onboard by 3:30 pm....if you get to the port around 3:00 you are losing many good hours onboard the ship for exploring, lunch, etc.

I would suggest having him drop you off early and then heading home right after (if you live not too far away, obviously)....if he wants to get great views of the ship leaving port at 5:00 he could go back to the port area and go to the restaurant called "Grills" near the port...the ship goes right by their terrace and it is a sight to see...you could even wave to him.....here is a link to some pics I took of the ship from Grills. Maybe he could bring a friend to have dinner with and watch you guys sail away!!!

Thanks so much for all the info! You have really been helpful, and have some really good suggestions! :lovestruc

No, he will not be able to come in with you and see you off. Definately not. He will be able to drop the two of you off with your luggage and that is it. Only ticketed passengers, ticket/id required may enter the terminal.

He may not enter when you return either. He may only pull up to pick you up. The ship will arrive back in port very early, then will clear customs. You won't get off until 8am or after.

parking is 10 bucks a day, so worst case he could just pay the 10 i am not sure of anyones financial situation, just trying to offer a suggestion, hope it helps

I seem to remember them checking our names & IDs off on a list before the car was even able to enter the parking lot.

IDs are checked as you enter the terminal area. He can go thru that checkpoint to the dropoff area. Then, he will drop you and the luggage--the bell service people will take your bags and you will not see them again till you are in your cabin. Next, you will get into a line to get into the terminal. Only ticketed guests and DCL cast members can enter the terminal.

Bottom line--even if he could park somewhere, it would only be another 5 minutes with you (maybe even less). Security is really tight, and he can't get into the terminal at all (unless the rules have changed). Kiss him good-bye at the car and call him from your cell phone before the ship sails.....

Lisa, they changed this a while ago now. The original entrance area is now behind a big wrought iron fence, and there is this new covered dropoff area on what used to be that small street that went past the terminal. They only stop people and check id's for people entering the actual terminal area thru a gate in the fence.

There is a free parking area across from the terminal
