First time we are renting a car and driving to the parks.... we are just doing MK, for now, may add a park later.... tell me all the details about parking in the lot and walking to the gate.....

TIA
Kath

When parking at MK, you park at the TTC and walk or take a tram to the transportation center, where you can take the boat or the monorail into the park.

Oh geez, glad I asked. :)
So we would park at the transpo center, correct, then take the monorail to the front of the MK.....
What time do the monorails start running?
How much to park there?
The parking at TTC is very close to MK?
Does this mean that there is not a "parking lot" for MK? Is there a lot for other parks?
I'm totally clueless, apparently, to the parking thing...
I appreciate the info!
We leave in 4 days btw!

When you arrive at WDW, follow signs to the Magic Kingdom. You will be parking at the TTC which is Ticket & Transportation Center. (or is it Tansportation & Ticket Center?).

Anyway, from the parking lot, you get on a tram to the TTC where you have the option of taking the monorail or the ferry to the main gate of the Magic Kingdom. There isn't a parking lot right next to the MK.

If your lucky enough to park right when the TTC parking lot opens, then you would park in one of the lots where you can walk to the Monorail or Ferry Boat and you won't need to take the tram there.

If you are staying onsite, parking is free. Guests visiting from offsite resorts pay $10.00 per day. This fee is only paid once per day, if visiting another park, show the CM at the tollbooth your paid receipt to avoid another parking fee.

The main car parking opens quite early, infact it's just about a 24 hour operation now. CM's man the tollbooth at around 6-6:30 am. If there is no CM, then you are directed to proceed to your destination (there are signs there stating this) The resort monorail starts between 6:30 and 7am. The ferry starts at 8am.

The bus is an excellent option for visiting MK. The breakfast bus starts between 7 and 7:30 and the bus drops you off AT the Magic Kingdom. There is no need for ferry or monorail when using the bus.

Magic Kingdom is the only park we won't drive to.

If you are staying on property you may want to consider taking the bus.

We are staying offsite this trip..... that's why I have NO idea about parking... :confused3

This info has been a huge help, I'm thinking we will get to the parking lot around 7-ish and take the monorail. Park opens at 8am I believe, Friday the 4th. This will give us our momorail fix ;) and let us be at the park when it opens and not have to worry about getting monorail time for the rest of the day!

Thanx again, SO much, for helping me here..... now the first leg of our journey is clear.

Alot of people will not drive to MK, they advise to take the bus to save time. I was at BWV last week and timed driving to MK from when I got to my car in the boardwalk parking lot to the front gate of MK, it was 25 minutes (around 11:00am). That was driving time, parking, taking the tram to the TTC, taking the express monorail. Sometimes it can be 20 minutes just waiting for the bus to come.

May 4th? MK opens at 9:00am.
